Not me. I was just posting my - albeit, 'robust' - view on it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I wasn't/am not 'annoyed' at other posters that do not share my view... Unlike Felton and JohnD appeared to be, given their reaction to my post/s.

Please don't wave when you see us. It's embarrassing

I usually look like I'm really interested in something in the other direction

Do you wave at men in the same make of trainers as you in the street out of respect for Nike???
It's called camaraderie. Something that humans with a shared passion often enjoy.

Clearly this concept flies over your head, or else your Subaru is no more important than you than a pair of trainers or your television in which case what are you doing on this forum??

I wave at Newage drivers, I tend to let Classic/Hatch drivers make the first move.

When I had a MK2 Golf a few years back every man and his dog waved. I only bought it for a run around, I felt guilty.

So, because TT doesn't acknowledge other Subaru drivers out on the road, but does have a general passion for the marque/his own car, he's not worthy of participating on this forum?

Don't follow the logic.

My comments are a response to his description of people who acknowledge others as "nutters" and likening his Subaru to trainers and white goods.

If you prefer not to acknowledge that's fine, but why disparage those who do?

Fair enough.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't go so far to call 'wavers' idiots, nutters et al. That's unnecessary, for sure. After all, their actions are displaying friendliness, so would be very mean to.

As mentioned above, each to their own.

All I'll say is: it's 'not for me'*

*I am a miserable person these days (not nasty, just miserable). So probably explains it.

Never do it, don't understand it myself. If it's a nice example with a mature owner and they're looking I might give them a smile of acknowledgement.

Motorbikes are worse as you see far more, that stupid sideways head nod they do at you when you're on another bike. It's usually the new bikers that seem worse for that, get a group of them all sideways nodding in the brand new get up and machinery.

I've had my Blob since April 06 and from the first week of driving it I was acknowledged by other Scooby owners. It has been a habit since then, just as I say morning to other people on my way to work each morning. Most people acknowledge the gesture as,just like the car I drive,we have something in common.

If the non wavers don't want to wave that's fine, but some people seem to be taking this far too seriously. I personally will always wave but Im not offended if the gesture is not returned, it just makes me think that they are not a true enthusiast, but that's fine as to some it's just a car like any other & nothing to be enthusiastic about.

The two are not mutually inclusive, though - as you're implying.

Because I don't wave to others, doesn't make me unenthusiastic towards my own car/the marque in general.

I'll wave, or nod back. Rarely the instigator these days.

I agree each and every one to there own, but I have to say if any one acknowledges me with a nod or a hello as I pass them on the street,I feel it would be rude not to return the acknowledgement, so I see no harm in doing the same in my car. It therefore seems to me a little sad that a simple wave can't be returned in your car.

I had a old bloke waving at me this morning.

But that may have been because I was driving like a c**k (late for work )

The scooby wave heralds back to when they were a rarity on the roads.

They are getting back to being quite rare on the roads these days. As many on here know I drive for a living covering a rather large area. Be surprised if I see 10 a week these days. I see more Stobarts wagons than Impreza's.

Couple of years ago, we went to Swiss Tony's wedding, 800 cumulative mile round trip, excluding guests at the wedding and visiting friends, we only saw 4 Impreza's in 3 days.

I'm not implying anything, that is just the image a person portrays of themselves by not acknowledging someone who has made a friendly gesture. If I were walking my dog in the middle of the countryside & a fellow dog walker said good morning to me I would return the gesture, it's polite that's all. I understand some people are freaked out by any sort of friendly gesture & sadly that is just a sign of the times. Don't wave if you don't want to, it's not compulsory, no pressure no one really cares, it's just a friendly gesture that's all.

I don't necessarily NOT acknowledge back if I'm the recipient - or 'wavee', if you will. Obviously I don't instigate any waves/nods, but also feel awkward when waved to as, if it's obvious I've clocked them, then I feel 'forced' to acknowledge (because I don't want to appear arrogant/aloof if I didn't).

Just find the whole 'cliqueness' of it a bit crass.

This thread has gone a bit mental (guilty as charged). Because, at the end of the day, none of it matters... In the grand scheme of things.

LOL, very true. The wavers & the non wavers have to just accept that each has a different view on it that's all.

Good to see a few still doing it, I haven't had a scoob for a while now and haven't ever been inclined to acknowledge someone in another marque..
Speaks for itself I think.

Defo looks like thread has reached it's natural end, can't beat a nice debate at the weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine if it is out where you all are.

Take it easy.
