Read what I have said .... Head Teachers would look after the Line Management of the Teachers. The Business Leader would manage the running of the school.

Each in their own specialisms ... sorted.

I'm keeping my balloons ...... hiring/firing is a business activity which Head Teachers shy away from, therefore the business leader can do that.

The head can look after the Teachers pastoral care ... which is what they are very good at and what I said.

You said, as I quoted your posts, business leaders should be in charge of hiring and firing. Just admit it!

And when you refuse to do that I will heed the advice from above and stop replying

Only 18 teachers have been struck off for incompetency in the past 40 years.

Let that sink in for a while .........

Maybe it's to try and maintain an element of stability... Changing teachers half way though a year can be incredibly disruptive to the education of the students. At all ends of the curriculum.

When I was at secondary school, hours were 9 till 3.30 - a 6.5hr day.

But...

Less 15 minutes for registration (9 - 9.15).

Then 15 minutes for mid-morning break (11.15 - 11.30).

And finally, an hour's lunch (12.30 - 1.30).

So, 6.5 - 1.5 = 5 (1 hour lessons)

Ergo, a 25hr week for lessons i.e. actual at-school teaching time.

(As far as individual teachers go, that's assuming they do indeed do the full 5hrs a day/25hr week teaching, of course).

Yeah, that's a good idea - keep a bad Teacher teaching ...... ruining students futures!!

It's an absolute outrage that so few Teachers have been sacked - just 18 in 40 years!!

The number is unimportant - letting bad Teachers teach is the real tragedy.

Kids get one chance .... Head Teachers have a duty to keep them away from the bad Teachers - this they fail on miserably.

18 is an indication that poor Teachers are allowed to remain teaching ...... the 40 years is an indication too.

23,000 teachers and 18 in 40 years have been sacked due to poor performance ..... something's wrong somewhere.

It's not a rant and she's not a teacher, she's a poet!! But she does make a good point about Michael Gove's "targets".
