You're probably right though, I should just switch off my brain and result to calling everyone lying scum, and insult anyone who doesn't concur with that simplistic view

If you were one of these people that has a corporate expense account and this behaviour was just a little too close to home then I could undertsand it, but I am sure you are not like that of course

Look if you want to call criticising so called public servants for ripping off the taxpayer nonsese and instead support them in their cause then that is up to you, but I am at a loss to work out why you would be so laissez faire about it.

The wrong thing to do though is to use this issue to call all politicians lying scum, which is simplistic, wrong, baseless and completely self-defeating.
What you are doing in cynically exploiting this issue to justify your gloomy view of the world.
Whatever happened to treating each case on its merits? According to you all guilt by association is OK if you belong to a group you don't like

But if you read the letters she sent to the committee, she simply did not think she should be investigated
She tried to have the investigation stopped, she gave evasive and partial accounts, and when the commissioner pressed her, to provide the correct information - she started to consult legal advice and sent threatening legalistic letters.
She simply believes that she should live by a different set of rules

I was just pointing out the danger of conflating the "flipping" issue with the current one
the "flipping" was within the rules (i.e. ripping of the taxpayer)
but as I also point out that the scandalous tax affairs (to the tune of billions) of some big corporations is defended by the same "within the rules" argument
when you have the leaders of the country behaving in such a cavalier attitude to tax payer money - what hope have we that they will tackle the far bigger issues facing this country
but boy, woe betide the single mother doing a bit of cash in the hand work - the "state" comes down like a ton of fvcking bricks

Hope there are some criminal proceedings against her, but I doubt it!

Just seen that - all MP's who leave the cabinet get more that £17,000 as severance payment!!!!
How the hell did all these cons get into politics?
You steal from the taxpayer, you commit fraud, you get £17,000 pay off!!
WTF are MP's up to?!

Personally, I'd rather keep the politicians we have and make the best of it.
What's the alternative? who would you rather be ruled by? Putin? Assad? which country floats your boat? Pakistan? North Korea? We could always follow Russell Brand and go in for a spot of anarchy, that'll be nice.

Agreed.
But there's no harm in always wanting one's own politicians - and police, bankers, big business, what have you - to constantly strive to be as above board as possible (in spite of their relative 'non-corruptness' lol when compared to other nations).
In that regard, the electorate should never ever get complacent. Otherwise we WILL end up with 'those types'. (Well, maybe not Tyrants; but you know what I mean. ).
