well,

andrew carr came this morning to have a check over of the impreza

he fitted the 3 port solenoid kindly supplied by tony, app now im on a mafless based map not drove it yet, waiting for the drive home

after that i tackled another niggle, the aircon...the dash would make a snake noise on the screen setting, so i wipped out the aircon machine

IMAG1912 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

and began a cycle, it pulled out 0grams of gas, so a quick regas up and lovely cold air

Is that a common thing with the aircon? As both my subarus made that noise and so have most other ones I have come in contact with... its not a constant noise but just does it every now and then.

What did Andrew say about the car mate? Nice and healthy? No problems I'm guessing

did a little bit under the bonnet today,

i made a makeshift sand blaster lol

so took the header tank top off

IMAG1924 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

and once makeshift blasted

IMAG1925 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

IMAG1927 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

spurred on by that success i took the dv and inter cooler off

IMAG1935 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

after id blasted, flatted the edges with 120/180/320/400/500/1000/3000
it looked like this, i redid the red logo too

IMAG1937 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

IMAG1939 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

then tidied the engine bay up,

IMAG1962 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

after that i did my wiper arms too, and the bonnet stay.

My heat shield rattled when it was a couple of years old. Repaired by Subaru under warranty back then.

So today I set about the bodywork,

After a wash, I put the car on the ramp, then removed the spoiler, the repeaters and the washer jets, along with the plates.

This was the headlight before, typical subaru quality plastic lol, you can just see the hazing on the top of the light

Untitled by cuprajake1, on Flickr

I treated the body with atomised tardis. Then once all the tar etc was gone, I then clayed the car,Then masked the car up, ready for machine polishing.

Usual steps, 3m fast cut with green pad, then 3m fine polish on yellow pad, followed by 3m ultrafina, final steps were to wipe it all down, then wax the body with ag hd wax and treated the windows with gtechniq g1

Final pics.

Well the map speed down pipe sounds a little tinny. So what I did was order some heat wrap, after installing that its really changed the sound. I also found the rear O2 sensor to be rattling in the down pipe and echoing.

Also a friend of mine changed the aux belts for me too, power steering one was a little squeely on full lock.

This one looks like a keeper with how nice it is.
Whats next on the list bud?

Will a centre pipe on mine make it sound any different & will it need mapping for it?

Next on the list is some more heat wrap, and to try n get the defi working. I did buy another boost gauge too haha. After that prob a full resprsy as I'm not happy with it.

The de res on yours will make it a bit louder, not sure on mapping.

changed the headunit today for something a bit newer and in keeping with the dash,

pioneer mvh-x560bt

bluethooth, so calls and streaming, has an external mike too

best bit is the rear input for the ipod, so that wire has been run to the arm rest cubby hole
