Well judging by this country's weather sway
That flare may just come in handy 1 day

Also took out the boost gauge for oem look and bought a Subaru head unit too.

Diff oil is at work and gearbox and engine oil will be done along with filters next week at some point

Today's plan of doing the wheels went out the window, so that's next week's job, luckily I have the Oe bbs colour code for gold.

JDM flare had a few of them sitting in my garage after breaking a few classic STi's, decided to set one off at work in the car park one night when no one was about, thought it would shoot up in the air like a emergency flare you get on boats, but it was just a disappointing strike it like a match and chuck it.

Fantastic car fair play to you mate, your attention to detail is bang on as it should be with this type of car..

You always carry the jobs out to a high standard as you done with your previous cars, credit to you..

If you put plenty of time and effort in you will get nothing but good results..!!

Had the car on the ramp at dinner. Doing the oil in the rear dif.

I then noticed the front droplinks were actually split,

Old and new.

IMAG2290 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

And the split

IMAG2291 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

Later on in the week I will do the gearbox and engine oil,

Also stuck the fog decals on but no pic yet,

My 99p sti back box off ebay still hasn't arrived, fearing 'it was lost in the post' ie never f-ign sent.

I should, ill order you can pay,

Tbh more of a superpro bush guy. They actually last unlike the rubber used by white line,
It's hard ordering stuff for this car, as the reg don't bring the spec up, and it uses different year suspension parts front and back I'm led to believe.

Seen as I couldn't do it last week, I was dam sure I was going to do my wheels this week,

The wheels had lacquer flake, 3 were especially bad,

The colour I used was the original bbs colour, gk1

Here they are flatted and masked in the booth, eventually I may have the tyres taken off and get them dipped to remove the crap paint under them,

IMAG2316 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

While the wheels were flashing off and then baking I set about the under arches,

The struts were in need of a refresh, just surface rust mainly, then I also blacked the bits that would rust if they weren't coated.

Here are the results, the struts were primed and then painted gloss red, the black is just smooth hamerite.

IMAG2326 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

IMAG2329 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

And after that had dried my wheels came off bake,

IMAG2322 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

IMAG2324 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

Then back on the car,

IMAG2331 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

IMAG2332 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

IMAG2335 by cuprajake1, on Flickr

Next weeks plan is a full flat and polish of the fresh paint. By which time the new decals should be in from Japan, so they can go on with the new door decals.

I need a white spec c in my life

Keep the updates coming Jake, enjoy seeing the progress of turning this car mint. think you got the balance perfect, like I said earlier the Spec C/S202 carbon spoiler would finish this car off a treat!!!

Stunning love this thread, wish you were a bit more local to me I have a brand new STi limited boot and A line spoiler that need painting,

In you need for speed painting the wheels you should have lined up the BBS centres the same . loving the sympathetic restoration albeit most did not need doing.

Did you not do a 2nd boot lid for a different spoiler option ?

I realised after I'd popped them in. Three line up with the tyre valve haha.

I was tempted by the s202/kakumei spoiler but still 50/50 on it lol

Decided to buy a resonated centre section for the car.

Try to get rid of the raspy tinny noise on part throttle.

So a Hayward and Scott 2.5 centre will be forsale soon.

Did the rest of my service today,

Oil, filter and new sump plug, then did the gearbox

Used shell helix ultra 5w/40 which is what the cars alwaysed had.

Then as it was up in the air my new centre section came, took a bit off fiddling to fit but it's on, and is much better for me, not boomey, no raspy sounds. Quite oem sounding but still has the bike like sound higher up the revs.
