how good are Avon tyres, they're used in the british GT series and not overly expensive.

then I've seen these for my 245/35/19

I don't rate them. Not since the ZZ1 (ever driven a 911 fitted with these - I have...scary!!). The ZZ3 are worlds better, but on the cars I deal with regulaly (nothing special, just normal Golf diesels etc) with them fitted I noticed they seem to wear quite fast.

Although one thing annoys me with Avon...they brand themselves as "British engineered" and imply that they are a British company... when they are owned by Americans (Cooper) and their tyres are mainly made in China and Eastern Europe. IIRC the only Avons made in the UK are mainly the motorsport and specialist tyres (vintage, Rolls Royce etc).

I hate companies that do this "British engineered" marketing practice with a passion (Tannoy is another example)

Nexens; Only ever experienced them fitted to shopping cars, nothing seemed to imply that they were any worse or better than the other similar class brands. Obviously individual tyre models could vary, so really this is just a casual observation.

There's a thread over on the Forester owners forum about the Nokian Z Lines (HERE). I'm tempted to try them next, especially for £93 a corner in my size.
