P1 wife to leave me

The problem here is that you see the P1 in such different ways.
To her, its something that you will spend even more time with, talk about, want to use all the time etc etc, so it represents a threat to her inbuilt "female must control" mechanism, and very soon you'll hear the dreaded "why dont you have any time for me anymore" words.
To you, its the accomplishment of a dream, but when its not your dream, you just cant see it that way.
You need to explain to her how important it is to you, and reassure her that its not going to have any significant impact on your relationship or the time you have together (it will, but hell, we're spin doctoring here!).
Your first mistake was not discussing it with her first. You need to try and get her a little excited about the prospect of owning a P1, not rock up and go "BTW, Im picking up a P1 tomorrow".
Get her involved, ask her opinion on colour (I know, only one, but who cares!!), does she recon its comfy, let her sit behind the wheel, ask her for opinions on all the little things, you know, make her feel a part of the process.
You can still backpedal here, appologise, ask her to come along and have a look at it, and then get her input on all the things above.
Failing which, at least have the heart to book her into a half decent B&B

When I bought my first one I went and test drove it, then took Ailsa along afterwards to let her drive it. She immediatly loved driving it and was quite happy for me to buy it, trouble is whenever we go out in it she wants to drive it. If I drive I make her feel sick! Still means I can drink so who cares

What is is about women??? I had similar bother. We changed her car & she could have whatever she wanted (nearly new and within reason - Focus in the end) But I got shed loads of hassle cos I wanted a scooby - why??? Loads of irrational arguments ensued but as I'd swapped her car at the same ish time I knew I was in the right so am a happy scooby owner now.
She moans to her friends about how I bought an Impreza still, but I think she does it now cos she likes it and is sort of proud of it, but won't admit it.
The other issue here Is that guys like cars and gadgets and girls like clothes shopping & stuff. (OK a generalisation but true for most) They seem to be able to sneek new outfits, shoes, accessories etc into the wardrobe quite easily. Trouble is its abit harder for us to smuggle a P1 into the garage or slip on a SS.

Nozzer,
Sorry to hear your plight. Don't want to rub salt into wounds but I'm married, 3 children - all girls 6, 8 & 9 years old.
Yes I received a bit of earhole GBH but I got the P1 though. Wifey likes it now (not that she'd ever admit it).
Oh yes, it's a great car despite what someone previously said. It's not going to go out of fashion like the evo 5,6 & 7 etc brigade.

Nozzer, you will end up with the P1 and the wife if your a little patient and nice about it. Like when the government introduces something new we dissagree with, we object at first, they usually back off and then at a later date they try again and pass it through. It doesnt seem so bad the 2nd or 3rd time cause its been sitting in the back of our brains, we are getting prepared for it, we then kind of accept . The same thing happens at work, they try a different approach. Work on it and I think you'll be right as its now sitting in the back of her brain.
