Wheels look nice, Original CSL's????
Always liked M3's, but my mate bought one back in 2006 which then it was a £20k motor, trouble is he drove it like £200 Nova, and unfortunately it kept breaking, maybe due to his driving style but ended up a bit of nail in the end.
Was as quick as my standard-ish Evo 6 GSR(cat back exhaust, filter) when we had a blast with each other!!!

tbh much the same day to day early 20's, hawk was a tad better long runs, 30mpg m3 vs 35mpg scoob, although that was with stop start traffic as well. I reset the computer when i picked it up and says 24.5.
Insurance wise depeds with who, cos m3 is standard can use compare sites and they came out about 50-100 cheaper than the scoob, but bear in mind that was tuned 2.5 scoob running about 400bhp with all mods declared.

Thanks pal. My mate had a Phoenix Yellow one 02 plate afew years ago, again lovely motor. Always fancied one after driving his but never had the money! That or a e39 M5. My bug was modified mapped etc. £70 a month on insurance and 60-70 miles out of £20 on tesco99. Around town n odd motorway. Sold up last year, still using works van. It's free and so is the fuel!!!! God I miss a car tho. If they're not any more expensive than a Scoob then maybe later in the year I might see how things are looking money wise.

parts wise they are more expensive, £150-200 per brake disk, parts are generaly more expensive, tyres, size dependant of course (standard 18's or 19's), are prob 20-30% more. Full set is prob £600-1000 depending on brand.
And i dealy you need winter tyres for when it gets cold, although may be cheaper to get a nail hahahaha

hahaha, o its very easy to blow alot of money on these, typical £500 full exhaust on a scoob, add a 2 or 3 in front off it for a full m3 system
but you can super charge them if you want, change the coil packs and bolt on kit takes it up to around 500-550 without any issues

But from the ad it looks like the guy has had it just over a year (and it does look like a good well looked after example tbf)
And yet he has still had to spend the best part of 3k on it, probably more
That is 30% of the cars value in a year - just seems a lot of cash to me, on a depreciating asset
But it does look nice

At a dealer it would have been £1500 more, with no real guarantees
On a forum , it would be a similar price, as the dealer but complete with a "posting/advert" the size of a small novel
(sort of priced by the number of words the owner can throw at it)

Chees ditch.
Tbh i think buying from an owners club long term member is prob the best way to go, the most expensive one i went to see was the lowest milage example at a dealer, condition wise was the worst of all the ones i saw, gravel rashed, damaged trim etc etc etc and he was asking 11k for it

If you search the web for M3 or 335 everyone says the M3 is the far better car, I looked at getting an M3 but went with a 530d as I just wanted a reliable car for a change. The handling was rubbish but a set of roll bars and the widest Goodyear asymmetric 2 tyres in 19" have transformed the car but I'm still too scared to take bends too fast in case the back end kicks out

How long have you had the ass2? As I was going to get them but too many folk say they are noisy and wear quick, what do you think and what profile are they 35or 40.
So got Goodyear sport maxx.

I was going to get an S4 but the 530d was just too good a price to pass up, had the Goodyears on about 3 months they are 255/30/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rears I don't do many miles so they will last me a long time as as for being noisy? I drive an impreza this thing is so quiet compared to that
I'm just very happy with the grip
To be honest if I had bought the M3 I would stick 20" rims on it purely so I could get 305" tyres on the rear as your into Porsche tyres and they are pretty cheap for a set

Wow 30 profile, I thought mine was bad a 35. I don't know the difference in comfy ness as nothing to compare it too, but I'm always scary of low profile tyres (easy damagable).

For a similar price you get more spec/comfort/MPG lower running cost very similar performance and the newer model that is also a bit of a sleeper and so not so many will think your a d**k. Oh and comes in 4 door, not to sure about the 6 cylinder m3.

I've searched the web as you suggested and it seems to be the v8 that they compare to the 335i. I have no doubt that this is true and would never compare a v8 m3 to a 335i. I do however stick by my opinion that the 6 CYLINDER m3 is not as good a buy as the 335.

Your comparing 2 completely different cars here, a e46 m3 and a newer e90 335. Around £7k vs £10k+
How's that a similar price?
The e90 335i is better in power but why not buy the v8 m3 if wanting that model, why go for the skivvy option.
If the op had more budget for a e90 then I'm sure he may of had lots of other option too.
Hence the op paid £6.5k for the e46 m3 as its the best out of the e46s.
