Bit of a false question tbh. Payed a lot more in early 90's in locals (excluding the free pitchers after rugby union :-)) than i did by about 1996 as a student, 50p a pint.

1976;
29p to 34p depending on which pub. Then 22p in the NAAFI when I went into the RAF.
I was able to get 5 pints, a Chinese takeaway, a taxi home, and have change out of a fiver.
My weekly wage was only around £30 though.

1/6d Circa 1963 for a light and bitter But only earning 6 quid a week - so 7.5% of wage.

Rarely go out these days, it's too expensive.
Think the last time we went out, it was about £2.50 a pint, but that was just local. I'd hate to think what town prices were now.

And this alone gives the lie to people moaning about the price of a pint

1968......bitter was 1/10d a pint (just under 10p) and mild was 1/9d.
By the time i got to uni in 1970, Ansells Brew XI (ugh) was 2/2d a pint, which became 11p a pint in 1971.
Fish and chips was 1/9d too......, about 9p.

First legal pint was in a local Sam smiths pub, - £1.41 in 2002.
Few illegal pints in various establishments when at college circa 2000-2002, around £2.40-2.50.

Think a pint of Tennents was about 55p a pint in 1981 17 at the time, but I remember 1985 in clubs cans of Schlitz Lager, Red Stripe and Bottle of Becks were all £1 each

1996 - £1.40 ish.
But then again I used to earn £115 a week... so spending £10 on a night out was quite a big spend!
