In all honesty I've no faith in any of them to do what's right, promises are cast aside the second they get into power and regardless of which name is over the door the end results are the same. Personal agenda soon overtakes any sense of duty.

Serious point:
How about instead of voting for a specific party, we have to fill in a questionnaire much like this one, which reveals which party our vote really should go to, and whichever is top in percentage terms counts as your vote.
In one fell swoop this sorts out the problem of voters not knowing the difference between the parties' policies, thick voters who don't have a clue, 'personality' politics, and probably loads of other stuff.
Might be a problem for regional parties/independents unless you have custom questionnaires per constituency, but why not! This is a great idea!

It's interesting how in Scotland and Wales the national parties are well represented and respected. However, in England, the BNP is seen as a staunchly right wing / racist organisation, admittedly they do themselves no favours in the PR departments but if a party leader worth their salt could be found they may do much better than they have.
I am originally from Liverpool but for most of my voting life I've lived in Scotland or Wales and I often end up voting for the national party as of all of those standing they seem to have the needs of the community I'm living in at heart. Frankly I couldn't care less about the tube strike, HS2 or a 20th runway at Heathrow. None of them have any impact on my own life besides the occasional trip to the west end shows to keep the wife happy.
