Does anyone else's friends, family tell you to sell your Scoob?

As I'm an older driver who bought a bike 12 months ago and a WRX 2 weeks ago I get the midlife crisis comments.
My reply.....
I want it and I can afford it, so why shouldn't I have it?
A midlife crisis is when old men chase after young girls.............Oh bugger!

I think the image of sti's are changing a bit. When you used to see one there was a chance it was driven by a **** but know they tend to be more of a enthusiast car IMO.
A lot of the **** seem to have gone to BMW/Audi with their m3 etc.

Made me laugh lastnight one of them must have just bought a A4 2 litre turbo and they put on a dump valve so they were all stood around it with the hood up revving it

My mum always used to moan at me about my cars, why lower it? why does it have to be so noisy? but that was whilst I lived at home. Now I have my own flat and own the scooby, she loves it! She always compliments what a lovely car it is.
People at my work always say "its too noisy" "its not a sensible car" but I don't care for them nor their opinion. Plus it's fun to make a noise as I leave at the end of the day.

Been waiting nearly 3 months for it to arrive from Japan, so I hope it's worth the wait.
If I don't get on with it I'll be looking for a V5/6 Type R

I have to say my classic rarely draws a comment from people at work etc, if anything next to all the modern BMW's, Audis and Mercs with their flashy wheels and styling the Impreza is relatively inconspicuous, it doesn't seem so brash to me now as it would of been 10 years ago.
As far as family is concerned mine certainly won't be going anywhere when I become a father, infact if I get it remotely my way then it'll be the scooby that brings the baby home, these things are important after all ;-)

My kids love driving in my car. Whenever the option comes up, Scooby wins. Even my older daughter who likes me to drive slowly prefers it. And it's Crystal Grey! (They preferred the old Blue one though...
I only use it for a few days a month, so the petrol problem has gone away. Worthless now so why sell?
Still the best car I ever had. No question.

TBH I only get the disapproving looks from my mother. Friends take the **** about it being a chavmobil, and the ***** who drive them, but no one seems to strongly opinionated about it.
Work people (the ones I sit with) don't seem to fussed.
I quite like that fact that most people expect me to be driving something 'sensible' and would never figure me as a scooby owner.

I have had three scoobies but the **** interiors got too annoying. They are also too slow for the bad MPG,.look crap and don't have very good road feel compared to a good got hatch. I had more driving pleasure from my gti-6 than a scooby.

To answer the op's original post, I don't get told i should sell it, more disapproval from family for having it.
Generally speaking i find the only people who disapprove are folks who have / would never drive one.
My dad drove mine and now he loves them.

Quite the opposite.
I always talk about selling it and my mrs and friends always tell me I'd regret it and to keep it. My lady loves my car more than I do. Lol

My wife is always telling me to get a more sensible car, she calls my classic a flintstones car
I then have to remind her that my baby was here before she was, and that if she carries on it will be here longer than she will be. That always goes down well

I'm quite lucky my missus loves the scooby and supports me modding it. She actually gets involved choosing parts!
Not sure what the neighbours think.
As for the argument about one being a family car, I'd say it was. Especially with a 5 door, isofix, big boot, 5 seats lots of safety stuff. It's just a fast fun family car

My dad did once ask me if it was a practical car.
He then had to get a replacement car, he ended up getting a 2 seater drop top alfa. Not practical for his line of work, I blame me buying cars with heart rather than head purely on him!
