Best official (hilly) road 10k was 40m07s but GPSd twice at 38 mins, done a sub 18m 5k, won the dad's race at sports day last week (and the 3.5 mile Fun Run last year; averaged 5m54s/mile). But I hardly ever run on road ; almost always coast runs.

I ran yesterday wearing my Wife's Garmin, thought I was "pushing" it (only a short run)and was really really happy to see the 6.30/Mile pace show on the Garmin
until my wife said she had calibrated it in KM,s (she is organising a 10k this weekend) - deflated, but deep down knew I was kidding myself

These gps devices mainly seem to be about sharing ( bragging ) to anybody who cares over the net about how many seconds you've taken off your run that particular day..?

I took up running last year to lose a bit of weight.
I ran the Silversotne half marathon in March and finished in 1:55, an average of around 8 minutes 40 per mile.
For normal running at home I tend to do about 8:45 to 9:00 per mile over a longer distance and 8:30 if I'm doing a quicker run.

Swum three miles in the sea this week (not all at once), kayaked about four, run about five. Never mind the times, it's been stunning weather!

I haven't sprint raced since I was about 16; my start was rubbish but luckily I powered through.
Nice swim across the Bay today. No wetsuit needed.

I've not run for many years but when I did it was not so much through choice but more so being ' volunteered' in the RN. I did the fist Lisbon half marathon in 1991(?) in about 1.35 but had to walk the first 10 minutes due to the crowd. I ran the Gibraltar Rock Race in something like 23 minutes (again I was volunteered!). I represented the RN under 20's back in 1989 and ran 2.08 for 800m - beaten into 3rd place in the inter-services championships by the Army. I never trained for running as I found it boring - I'm a cyclist (rather was!) more than runner, but the fitness carried over, to a point.
