I only have myself to blame for competing with HTB funded people? Really?
In answer to your question, yes you do have yourself to blame. We are in fact no different, we both took a gamble, mine happened to pay off and yours didn't, so now it's sour grapes time because you missed the boat and now have a lot of catching up to do.

Honestly if I were even in your situation now i'd still be doing better than you because I have some *****, your problem is your too busy thinking your better than everyone else/ something special patting yourself on the back for making decent money thinking your the man. All you ended up doing was shafting yourself because in reality your not too bright and struggle to see things for what they are. Your a ditherer and complainer with ideas above his station, that's what has got you into your present situation and what do you do about it? dither and complain some more.

Nice snide insult, which just serves to confirm my opinion above. Yep mediocre suits me just fine, never been one that craves the limelight, i'd much rather go under the radar un-noticed, better to be perceived mediocre and happy than to think i'm something special and end up bitter and twisted when I discover i'm not.

It's all about perspective and expectations.

I never had high expectations because of which I was able to achieve my goals. Life comes easier when one sets achievable goals, it makes you feel happy and successful with the confidence to move towards the next challenge, not so much aiming low but to be successful at the higher end of mediocrity

You on the other hand feel as though you are superior with great expectations and when you don't achieve your goals look for excuses. But from my perspective your just a sorry *** sore looser.

Sometimes in life you need to grab your *****, shut your mouth, close your eyes and jump.

I'm a saver my friend, I'm sorry if you don't respect that.

It seems to be that your attitudes sums up lot that is wrong with modern Britain.

What have you actually done except make a gamble which has taken food from someone elses table?

You call that 'success'.

I don't respect that and I don't respect you.

I have a full time job.

Apparently 'success' in modern Britain is to leverage up and go down the casino, bet big and win.

I'm sorry I'm not doing enough.

I'm a saver too, but never earned enough cash to put in the bank, so thought what better way to get some of my money back / stick it in a piggy bank than bricks and mortar, because I have to live somewhere and it's better than paying someone else's mortgage. see that's down to perspective.

It seems to be that your attitudes sums up lot that is wrong with modern Britain.

Don't hate the playa, hate the game.

Dude where / how did I take food off someones table? Life is a gamble my friend, wake up and smell the coffee.

You call that 'success'.

I got what I wanted so yes.

I don't respect that and I don't respect you.

See there you go again getting ideas above your station, what on earth makes you think I care what your opinion is of me?

the "saving" culture has crippled economic growth in Japan for the last 20 years

they have tried everything including negative interest rates - you need a balance

That's cynical and pessimistic if the best in life is just to take from others.

That's fair enough if you mean to buy productive assets I suppose.

Anyway Europe became an economic success initially because of a Protestant culture of Capital Accumulation.

The system took from me and didn't give me anything useful back, so when I left school I spent a few years learning how it worked, then I played the game and got out of the system as soon as I could.

I never took a thing from an individual, I took from a corporate entity that provides a service for a fee, which I paid. Then someone else did the same as i'd done a few years later and I was able to extract my expenses from the venture along with some profit.

I think it's called business.

You should do motivational speeches, once you use a grammar checker

But you are right in that a gamble is sometimes required. Mine was 5 years ago and I came out ok.

Motivational speeches are for desperate saps who yearn for an escape from work and are prepared to take a gamble. Most lose of course.

I served my time and paid my way, during which time I used my noggin and squirreled away a few quid in the form of bricks and mortar, as it was the only way I could see to break free of the oppressive society which I was born into whilst still being able to provide for my family.

Now if someone who is unable to see the situation for what it is because they were brain washed better than me wants to suggest i'm some sort of parasite because I beat the system at it's own game, then who am I to argue.

My suggestion is don't by a house, keep working, renting, hating and complaining, the world needs people like you, god forbid there should be more people like me, maybe the world would stop rotating, fall off it's axis and into the obyss. And I sure as hell don't want that to happen as i'm quite happy here in my little piece of paradise sucking life's blood out of people like you.

You gambled and got lucky, then got out while you were ahead (a smart move actually). That's not so bad, it's the fact that you're deluding yourself with hindsight that some special knowledge and insight was involved. You then seek to pump your own ego up by demeaning others who don't share your supposed unique talents.

You're so great at business? Well go and do some instead of being on this forum wasting time.

I'll certainly complain about government policy which is deliberately hurting people like me. Of course you wouldn't...you're some sort of self-reliant superman...too strong for everyone.

Your "logic" is flawed Tony.

Whether you work or not you still pay for what you consume, providing income for those who work to provide those goods and services.

What has working or not got to do with anything? You seem to think you are some kind of martyr because your work makes something "physical"

Actually some insight was involved, I saw the market was rising and thought if I don't grow a set and get on board i'll get left behind.

I only demean those who attempt to demean me.

You're so great at business? Well go and do some instead of being on this forum wasting time.

I have been working while I have been on here actually, I did a mixer load of cement this morning and carried on building my extension that i'm making out of stone, but it got to 35 degrees by 10.30 am and i'd used all my cement up so thought i'd chill for a bit, but I did just go out and wire brush the mortar a few minutes ago.

I'll certainly complain about government policy which is deliberately hurting people like me. Of course you wouldn't...you're some sort of self-reliant superman...too strong for everyone.

Yes I am very self reliant and very strong willed, i've had to learn to be that way and I learned it the hard way too, but I don't bleat and cry about it, I just get on with it little by little, bit by bit. It's very similar to walking, you just make little steps and before you know it your miles away from where you started.
I remember being a kid at the swimming pool looking across at the diving pool with the olympic sized high platform and seeing kids like me jumping off, being petrified of heights myself I was amazed they could even climb the ladder let alone jump off the top. I wasn't much of a swimmer at that time but was determined i'd jump off it one day. After jumping off the two lower boards a few times the time came to go for the big one, I was completely crapping myself going up there but with other kids behind me I had no choice but to continue, finally I made it to the top wandered up to the edge and had a peer over, that was probably one of the most frightening moments of my young life. So I stood up there for a good 10 minutes watching loads of kids run and jump, I really wanted to go back down the ladder but the thought of that almost had me in tears and if i'd have fallen off the ladder it was hello concrete floor, I decided to take a deep breath and run and jump. It was a long way down and when I hit the water with a thump I went deeper than i'd ever been before underwater and even had to let the air out of my lungs because they were bursting, a few kicks later and I made it to the surface gasping for air, swam to the ladder and got out.

I have taken that lesson through my life and it has served me well, just don't forget to grab your ***** which is the mistake I made the first time.
