C'mon England!!

I honestly don't get football. Hyped up tripe that I can genuinely say that I don't get excited about. I honestly find it more funny and exciting when England lose and to see people moaning and getting worked up about their favourite teams. Like F1fan has said, you lot can take the silly flags off your cars now .
As RA_Dunk alluded to the delusion is rather sad!

But regardless, I'm not gonna sit in front of the TV showing no emotion, just because of 'lack of expectation'.
After all, the Scots show plenty of it

Glad it's over really, can't stand the hype and misplaced expectation. Football is overhyped, too much up its own ****.
I was in Spain at the time of the last world cup. When Spain got through to the final the locals in the bar had a little cheer and then carried on drinking, no big drama or fuss over such a boring game.

I saw the glimpses on Sky News. Rooney's goal looked like a sheer fluke, fair do's. It looked as if he just happened to be there to kick it with no hope in the world. He seemed to be a bit dazzled on the realisation that he actually had scored! LOL.
Anyway, hope is a bird with the feathers etc. so let's see what happens. It not completely over yet. We mustn't give up the feathers just yet.

I heard on the news that England will only get kicked out if Italy and the other one (I forgot who it is going to be) end up with a draw, though? IMO we can't predict the draw between them two just yet, can we? May be we can, I dunno.

Yes if Italy draw against Costa Rica tomorrow, we are OUT.
If Italy win, we have to beat Costa Rica in our next game. Even then the goal difference has to be in our favour, after the other matches have been played out in the group.
The chances of us progressing are slim to none.

How come its always the same thing everytime there is a world cup with the UK, that so many people just want to see their national team fail, and the more dramatic fail the better?
I'm also not sure who is worse, the people, or the bloody media.

Right let's get behind Italy in their next games against Costa Rica and Uruguay!! Hopefully if England win against Costa Rica, we'll get through, it's a slim chance, but a chance nonetheless. Italy have to win both games by 1-0, a distinct possibility and England have to beat Costa Rica 2-0, here's hoping we get through on goal difference!!

I support any British team in any sport, I can't understand people who don't. Those who get excited and happy about Englands predictable poor performace on the big stage are usually a certain type of person I have no time for.
Most logical opinions were that this was a very hard group and an England team with a dodgy back four was going to find it hard to qualify. However its a fact of fan logic that the Englands golden generation played **** so maybe a **** England team would play well. Just like the logical chance of progessing from here even if we beat Costa Rica is tiny, a part of every fan still believes that all the pieces will magically fall into place and England will somehow scrape through.

Totally agree nothing worse than folk that enjoy England failures.
Think most of us know supporting England (in any sport) has more lows than highs, but still would not want to enjoy others being miserable.
It's similar to people constantly telling folk they have bought the wrong car, don't really understand it l guess it makes them feel superior.

The point is surely, the English press are duty bound to talk up our chances since the premiership is worth so much money , together with the irony that with the same players we cannot progress beyond the second round in an international event

The thing is we don't have a group of great players, but l think most of us know that.
The fact all our squad play in England or Scotland speaks volumes, if we had truly great players some of them would be in top European teams in my opinion.
I know we are told premiership is best league in world but it is full of non English players and not sure what best league means - most money available, most attacking, goals scored who knows.
I think that we know they aren't the best team, but l still want to watch the games and see them win, but cant get any enjoyment from watching others being miserable/upset when they don't, just seems very odd.

Uruguay! Suarez is world class. Even I enjoyed watching his two goals against England on the news this morning. That's what football should be about, watching and celebrating someone like him regardless of who he plays for. Not blind tribalistic loyalty!

'our team' ???? Not my team. If I have to watch football I would rather watch the world class players who all seem to play for the teams other than England as far as I understand it. Watch a bunch of second raters or some true world class players??? Hmm let me see LOL!

English players always seem to under achieve, their performances are stilted, wooden and half the time they don't seem to know were or who to pass too, that is only magnified when their opponents(anyone) seem to ooze quality in their movement and fluidity.
Face it, they are no way near good enough, their final performance against Costa Rica will prove this.
