Shame they aren't open and honest about the known issues with the ipad 2 home button and give a 6 year warranty on that. My Wife took her ipad 2 back within the 2 year period to the shop and Apple refused to do anything about it and said she would need a new ipad at well over £200.
My 64gb ipad 2 is starting to intermittently get the home button issue but at least I have a 3 year John Lewis warranty with mine so will see how that pans out when the time comes.

Well, here I am posting from my freshly fettled Macbook, got to say it looks and performs like new, that £400 labour certainly did a great job of cleaning it.

Oh Apple know about it alright, it was the chap in the shop who said we get ipad 2's back all the time with this issue that was the give away.
Mine is too intermittent to take it back yet as I just know i'll walk into JL and as soon as I go to show them it will work fine. However the Wife's one is knackered so i've told her the only option now is an independent mobile phone repair shop to replace the home button.

Took my one back to John Lewis the day before the warranty expired. It was sent off to be looked at and I thought nothing would be done as it was intermittent. Was told it would be about 28 days turn around. 7 days later get a phone call to say there is a brand new 64gb ipad 2 waiting for me to be collected. Technical report showed faulty home button that was still present after an OS restore therefore a replacement was provided.
After that I will always buy from John Lewis when they are giving 2 year or more warranties for free at the same price as anywhere else is selling the item with an only a 1 year warranty.
