So what did you make of the Cameron/Juncker fiasco?

Tha's a baseless fantasy argument. The overwelming majority of immigrants PAY TAX. What % of benefit go to immigrant from the EU, do you know?
If we 'got rid' of EU immigrants tomorrow, we would be faced with a terrible recession, with large parts of our service and publuc sectors left in meltdown.

We could kick em out (EU workers ) and get some more from anywhere else round the world though, cheaper.
But we'd probably have to prop up all the English workers in Europe

So even with your anecdote you have to accept that getting rid of EU immigrants will result is the closing of vast number of shops, and your cleaning not getting done - still don't see where your 'win-win' is

Take the Polish as a example why by pass Spain Italy Germany and France and come to the UK, not for the weather is it ? or is it the free money (benefits) to top up their wage. I would rather our Government gave the UK worker the boost or subsidise their pay to make minimum wage more attractive But the EU doesn't allow it.

English is the main 'second language' taught in Polish schools, as a result a third speak English. Nothing to do with our rather pathetic benefts system. If were to do with benefits they'd go to countries that actually had a decent benefits system

Martin, stop throwing in hypothetical questions and then using the answers to those to try and strengthen the case for your beloved Tory Party when those questions are nothing more than nonsense.
To those responding to him please stop as you must be able to see the tripe he is peddling here!
At the end of the day Cameron could oppose Juncker all he liked as it would have no effect given the position of nearly every other EU nation. Whether he did it for effect or because it is what he believes is right we will never know, but one hopes it's the latter.
What it has illustrated though is that the chance of re-negotiating anything with the EU for the UK is non-existent hence there is no reason he cannot move forward with the referendum he has promised right now! That said many of us already knew the whole re-negotiation thing was nothing more than a stalling ploy to blackmail the population into voting for him at the next election.
Hopefully the electorate won't be that stupid, but given the average level of intelligence in the UK these days I wouldn't be sure about that!

What concerns me about the whole episode is the reasoning the other member states have for voting Juncker in. What credentials does he have to be the leader of such a powerful organisation? Prime Minister for Luxembourg, really? He barely qualifies to make the tea.
It would also appear that many member states were not at all convinced by him but he got their votes with the promise of future favours. This is apparently how the EU 'works', well, they can play this kind of politics without us IMO.

Italy, Spain and France agreed to back him if they received concessions on the economy.
I'm sure there would have been other back room deals for other nations.
And besides, if Juncker hadn't won, the EU would probably have made everyone choose again until they ot the outcome they wanted.

That's the thing, people in his home-land knew he was standing, so did many Germans, but there was no campaign for him over here. It's as if there's a whole other part of the European elections that many people do not know about.

I think we should all vote to stay in Europe, I love the idea of being part of another super power. Just think how corrupt it would be, you would never have to make a decision for your self ever again. It will be so good that they will even tell you how to raise you're own children.
I've always dreamed of what it would be like to have my rights taken away from me.

Seriously what planet do you all live on. In the near future we will have NAFTA, the EU expanded to the Russian border and a China/ Asian free trade organisation, yet some of you want us to be little old England going it alone. Wake up !!!!!

What would you like to do now that you can't?

It may be the fact that he does not mention the EU once
So please explain

Had a bit of a listen to Radio 4 today, they were discussing UK leaving the EU. Norway was mentioned and one of their ministers said that they feel they would have been better off joining. They have a trade agreement with the EU which basically means they have to follow 85% of EU laws to conform but don't get a say in the law making process and he feels they are suffering from this.
Other points raised was the level of funding that we receive from the EU in places like Cornwall £560,000,000 as well our farming industry amongst others that would no longer receive subsidies and various handouts and end up completing against member states that are subsidised.
I have no idea of the over all figures but just thought I'd post to see what the better informed amongst us had to say about it.

As I said in the post before, being in the EU IMO is one step closer to being a superpower like the US where choices are a little thin on the ground in terms of freedom/rights. The video is making a joke out of health and safety etc ( eg superpowers ) and in turn the people who support such things like the EU .

I would vote out of the EU but still believe the EU can be a good thing if used for its original reason which is trade. When the UK voted to be in the EU they didn't vote for what it is today, and theres no guarantee that they will ever let us be involved in the decision making.
The EU is not a democracy and until it is I will be voting out, I hope that I am not wrong and am aware that a lot of people disagree.
