CDB = Closed deck block.

Some of the 2.0 litre blocks were closed deck and the 2.2 were as well.

Open deck block:

Closed deck block:

As you can see, the closed deck block is much stronger and capable of holding much more power.

the 2.5 block was never made in CDB but you can get liners to fit the holes to make it (kinda) into a CDB. Although it's not strictly a full CDB.

Hope this helps.

No one wants to share actual price?
Perhaps we could make group buy for 2,5 cdb

Thank you, this does help.

But......I know have a new question, with a CDB is cooling more of an issue?

Good to see my pictures being put to good use

No issue with cooling on CDB, most of the big power builds use either a pinned or cdb block.

I would possibly go with a bigger pump, as the limit of a 255 is around 460bhp, something like a 290 should give you some headroom if you wanted to run meth...

Reading with great interest...

So... Would it not be better to get a 2l block that's closed.. Then bore/stroke to 2.5?? And cheaper!!
Rather than get a 2.5 pinned.. I would have thought that the 2l block would be stronger??

Also I thought 2.5l STI blocks was semi closed??

Can't bore a 2.0 block to 2.5. Different castings.

I think the 650's will be getting close to their limits also, I'll get them flow checked and cleaned during the build, better safe than sorry!!
To answer some earlier questions, you can convert an open deck or semi closed 2.5 block to closed deck, it works out around £500 with AS Performance, you need to rebore it also, so if you have a +0.5mm block I wouldn't convert it, only use a std bore block.

I'd tend to agree. Think 800's would be better, and the RCM fuel pump.
When I went 2.5 forged, I also had supertech valves and springs fitted. You may want to consider them too..
Hope it goes well for you..

Get Lateral to flow them out to 800. That way at least you'll know they all match.

I use Ecutek 800's
Plenty good & headroom for most power applications
Work very well with big maf applications ( ideally paired with perrin short ram big maf )

Yes

Your 650cc injectors should do 480hp all being well but agree worth going larger to add head room.

Looking good this your proposed spec is similar to what I have built, and all suggestions for alterations are all of what I built mine using ie injectors, fuel pump etc, even so I still find it interesting, also reassuring that my choices are common options
