How much do these blocks like to rev with a suitable turbo? Can you get usable power up to 7500 rpm at least? Thinking of next year's specification, the other alternative is a 2.1 scdb or cdb. I do love an engine that likes to be revved but sluggish spoolup isn't too nice either.
Are we talking of more than £4000 to have one of these 2.5l CDB's built btw (just the block without heads)? I feel a bit like a time waster mailing these questions to the builders before I actually have the money.

Not had a good time with my 2.5 forged rebuild. Oil pick up pipe failed at around 9k miles. Replaced and seemed like there were no issues. Rebuilt engine went after 15k miles. Now in the process of being rebuilt again. Anyhow, the block had cracked. When mechanic opened her up he found that the pistons were scored too. I did consider this 2.5 CDB in the re-rebuild - but chap said it wasn't worth it unless I really was going for big power. All I want is a reliable circa 400bhp though.

2.5 makes a nice road car setup, the extra cc spools quickly and makes great torque. For a more rev happy engine you can't beat a 2.1, you can help with spool by runnig a higher compression ratio, but this is always a compromise with fuel/det if running pump fuel.
This is one ive supplied to a Customer in Sweden-
It's making around 380bhp 481nm

TS turbos arent much more expensive in comparison to their single scroll eqvivalents.
Difference is TS setup, headers, sump, down pipe. Not expencive either.
I would say in total it would cost you around 700 £ more......and you can sell stuff from previous setup to recover some funds.

TS will give you ultimate usable power band but you will sacrifice unique subaru sound due to equal lenght headers
Do it the right way first time so no doubts or regrets will be left:P
