I like the look of that one plus the WR blue one as well, I wonder what the landed / OTR UK price will be?

Thanks for the info I'll take a closer look.
What other fees will be needed after that to get it otr? Based on that car for £12k

I enquired about that as that is what I want in THAT colour only, plus it had the 6 speed too, which most seem to have auto box which makes it 20hp less as they have a smaller turbo afaik.
Unfortunately that sold in japan, damm!

The legacy at the begining of the thread was first owned by me and is a Tuned by STI not a STI which came out the following year.

We had a bespoke Miltek exhaust system made for it, air filter and remap so it was around 300bhp.

I far as I know there are only 2 others in the UK both imported by Prodrive as chase/recce cars, one was a saloon and one the tourer. I saw both these at an Prodrive open day.

I was considering that car as I thought it was an STi, is there any real difference between the two models?

The sti which came out a year later is facelifted, different dials, wheels, grill and has sti badging plus starter button. The auto has paddles opposed to buttons on the steering wheel.

The mesh grill and badge was put on by myself as the original was a normal one.

That changes things slightly then as all the pics I had looked at online were predominantly of the Legacy STi, does the 'tuned by STi' come with Brembo brakes or just standard Impreza WRX style 4 pots?

Thanks for the info , as nice as your old car is it isn't quite what it's being advertised as by the seller as being.

It did have Brembo brakes, it is basically a spec B. This one did come with the mega expensive option alloys though. I wanted the STi version but couldn't afford it at the time and so got the next best thing.

Not sure if this seller is the same guy but it was up for sale about a year ago and the seller pinched a load of my original pictures to try and flog it.

There is NO sti officially afaik. They are all tuned by sti (TBSTI) just different years had different bumpers and revisions.
Afaik too they only made 600 of the face lifted ones. (Not sure on numbers on previous ones).
Yes basically they are spec b's with added bits like 6 speed/auto, Brembos, alloy arms, sti springs, sti elec memory seats (06/07), splitters etc.
I read that the 06 had, can't remember of name of turbo, twin scroll of course and on the 07 they changed the turbo to a vf43 I think which is same as previous turbo but the latter had quicker spool.

I believe the pre facelift ones were 04/05 (which is one in first post) and facelift ones were 06/07 which were limited to 600 units.
I belive they only came in blue, wr blue and dark grey.

I so want a grey one with 6 speed at a reasonable otr price but only found 1 in japan at £12k and landed in uk works out around £15-£16k. Ouch!

Folk call the s402 an sti too, but they had 6 pot Brembos, bbs wheels, 2.5 choc block and a few other bits.

I've seen the threads over on leggy forum.
I've spoke to seller and tbh is a bit clueless. And about 2-3k overpriced IMO.
I'd buy it though if it was in grey and had a 6 speed.
I'll stick with the audi bus for now.

Thanks for the link, at the moment for me it's research only until I actually put my pristine S202 up for sale.

I'm still torn between the Forester and Legacy STi models, but I've got time at the moment to research it a lot further.

I've continually researched for 3-4 days on them now as I'd happily sell my audi to get a tbsti 06-07 model in grey only if I can find one delivered to uk at a reasonable cost.
Forester is not my cuppa tea although it's got all the running gear. Although they are a lot easier to come by.
It would be my DD so looks are important aswell as the running gear, I wouldn't mod it apart for a high flow cat and remap circa 330hp.

There's not much else out there in estate within a reasonable budget.

Is my figures right for a car at £12.5k fob inc taxes and import fess total to the amount of £15-£16k?
As you've imported before it seems.

I'd say your UK OTR price would seem just about OK provided the Yen exchange rate doesn't go to poo before it lands in the UK, but I'd allow yourself £500 at least in case of currency fluctuations.

I'd recommend contacting Brave Auto International from personal experience, the UK side is handled by a very helpful guy from Yorkshire called Tom who couldn't be more helpful if he tried.

You could even ask them to source some JDM goodies and put them in the vehicle for you to save you shipping costs and potentially duty as well.

Are they in Leeds? Down the road from me like 20mins
Do they carry stock or do they just import at customers request?
Thanks for that, need to think if it's worth it money wise although torque gt said to me that it could be anywhere for £10-£17k uk otr price depending on condition and mileage so I guess their not far off if that's what they fetch if in uk for sale but non to compare prices for them here.
Suppose it's, if you want it, pay the monies for it.

Noticed a few diffrences between the prefaclift and facelift

Pre facelift-
Gold Brembos
5 speed box (no 6 speed as far as I can see)
No rear bumper lip spoiler
Basic front spec b grill

Facelift-
6 speed box
Rear bumper lip spoiler (both have front splitter)
Black painted Brembos
New age dash and clocks

Ah cool, even closer I'm in the next town.
I've messages them on that site to get some figure and ideas.
I've even registered to see auction stock and there's no tbsti on there, only 1 black s402.

Did they do everything on your car for you to drive it home legally?
Did they change-
Kmh to mph
Map for uk fuel
De limit it
Sort uk lights, fogs, etc
Mot and so on.

Happy days if they're that close to you, to answer your questions in order :

No as I didn't want it done but they can do.
No, I'd want to arrange my own mapper.
This can be done when the mapping is done, they would just remove the upper speed limit or raise it for you.
Yes.
Yes.

Tom will sort out all the UK registration for you, get it an MOT certificate and register it in your name for you with fresh road fund licence.

You pay the FOB price when they source the car for you, and the balance when it arrives in the UK - easy peasy lemon squeezie.

Cheers ty, I'll await for them to get back to me and see if the numbers are good enough.
If it was in uk I'd say the car is worth £10-12k but looking closer to 15-16k landed seems a bit too much for a 7 year old car personally.

Must of gone that one as can't find it anymore, however there's some on other japan sites like linked above.
Just a reminder the s402 has the famous 2.5 engine otherwise a cracking car. (Bang a jdm 2.0 init and that would be the perfect combo).

Probably like Pacenote (I had a oil fired Leggy) I have hankered after a post 06 spec B for 3 years, but the sums just don't add up for importing. The exchange rate 2 years ago was around 134 yen to £, so it`s getting better, but Ian Litchfield told me then that it would need to be closer to 200 to make it worthwhile, and these wagons seem sought after in japan, especially the rarer manuals. I still have the occasional drool on tradecar or goonet, but it is bad habit!!! I loved the ride and handling of the derv leggy, so could only imagine what a 2.0l turbo was like. As you said Busta, it is hard to justify when pushing £ 16k.

Finally got my legacy up for sale.. got 22K on it since engine rebuild and still pulling like a train, lol..

I've recently driven 3 twinscrolls that have been for sale in UK and although nice cars were all quite old (2003/2004) and I found them rather underwhelming because as a daily driver ( use the legacy for my business) my diesel version is spot on ( engine issues aside ) and is capable of covering the ground reasonably quickly in real world driving.
Also I have a JDM Impreza for my twinscroll fix

I got shot of my derv legacy after the gearbox went, having followed your trials. Got a Skoda Superb to replace it, which is better in all departments but ride, though it just never makes me smile... the love ain`t there.
