Not disputing his prowess but as with most stats you can make them look however you want (by leaving out the Mercedes years for example). Did he ever have a decent team mate? All the big guns of the previous era retired or died so the grid was less decorated. He certainly never sat next to another world champion like Lewis has with Alonso and JB and this year on a grid with 4 other former world champions. He also dictated teams a bit like Alonso really - who likewise has never had an especially strong team mate with equal rights and when he did at McLaren it showed.

With having one of the best drivers in Alonso it makes sense to have someone as consistent as Button in the other seat, not only is he consistent but is also one of the best ambassadors in the sport.

I disagree. I think Button still has a lot to offer, especially development wise.
They will form an almighty partnership. Just look at how Button did against Hamilton.

I also have to say that my intense dislike of Dennis was only fuelled further yesterday as he tried to heap the blame for 2007 on to Hamilton's shoulders!
I guess when you give the fastest driver on the grid a **** car for several seasons and he then goes to a rival team and wins the WC it must really get to you eh?

I thought Dennis's comments regarding the Alonso/Hamilton feud were out of line.
"Lewis had immaturity," said Dennis, "If you go along the line of who struck the first blow, I would say Lewis had his role to play in starting this process that escalated."
How did he do that then? By showing he couldn't be bullied on track and finishing on the podium right behind Alonso in his first three F1 appearances. Hardly what you call starting a fight.

Woke up yesterday and the wife was watching the news in bed. Jenson was on it and the news reader was talking about his career so far. I asked the wife if he had retired, she said no he has signed for mclaren again next year. She then said she could have told me that yesterday (Wednesday) as she knows someone who's son works at mtc and had told her jenson was staying.
Doesn't surprise me, jenson out scored Kevin last season and points = pounds.
What does surprise me though, is that apparently it is a multi year deal and not just a year extension.
Looks like Jenson may well crack 300 Grand Prix starts in his career.

Seriously? I mean I am not exactly his biggest fan in terms of his persona, but in the car he is probably the best all round driver on the grid although Hamilton is probably marginally faster! To be in contention for the 2012 championship at the last race was Schumacheresque frankly given the gulf between the Red Bull and the Ferrari!

I don't rate vettel either, all his champs have come when he has had a car streaks ahead of the rest, although that could be argued alot of years. but look how riciardo spanked him and had webber not had so many mechanical failures he would have not been far off him

In my opinion you cant just say 2ho is the best driver as there are too many variables in the drivers championship to take into account.
Put max chilton in the 2014 mercedes amg and setup for the perfect operating window which suites his style and whatch him win over and over.
Its always, the right car, the perfect setup and the right team that sets the drivers apart, not that certain drivers are better than others

In my opinion you cant just say 2ho is the best driver as there are too many variables in the drivers championship to take into account.
Put max chilton in the 2014 mercedes amg and setup for the perfect operating window which suites his style and whatch him win over and over.
Its always, the right car, the perfect setup and the right team that sets the drivers apart, not that certain drivers are better than others

Yes i do agree with you about the driver feed back but remember somebody is interpreting that feedback and engineers make things happen, all of that comes together when you have the best car design in the first place. As proven by ross brawns history in f1
Like i said, if someone like max chilton or any f1 driver was in the Mercedes with the perfect setup for their driving style they would be winning.
