I still use my old RayBan Wayfarer with B&L G15 glass lenses that I bought 20 years or so ago. Knocks the socks off all the modern polycarbonate stuff including my Oakleys for clarity and distortion free vision.

I don't like sunglasses because I can never find a pair that I like and whenever I try them on and look in the mirror, I think to myself "you look like a tw@t in these"
. I have a smallish face and they always look way too big or wide on me. I bought some Oakley ones about 12 years ago which I still have in my drawer in mint condition which I've hardly worn. They are narrow framed glasses because that was the fashion back then but now they look too small and look like kids glasses compared to what people wear nowadays...
I do have a pair which I bought last year at the airport on the way to Morocco and my girlfriend thought they suited me well so I bought them. They're not stupidly large, just a good medium size IMO but I don't wear them often when I'm driving and certainly never when I'm just out and about.
Wouldn't mind a nice pair of Maui Jims if they suited well. Sunglasses have to look right on a person IMO.

I've got a bit of a thing about sunglasses due to having been very light sensitive (conversely my low light/night vision is fantastic) for as long as I can remember and currently have Raybans, Oakleys, Pradas and a £20 pair bought from a ski shop which are very dark for snow and water.
Bizarrely the £20 pair are the best for driving (although they are apparently too dark)
Used to have a pair of Raybans which were specifically for driving and enhanced certain colours fro clarity and safety reasons. Lost them on a boat..duh..don't know if they still sell them?

I can't drive even if there is a hint of sunshine without sunglasses and so always have a pair in the car. Oakleys for me because I like how light weight they are.

I never wear shades. Not even when I am in very sunny countries. I can't be @rsed with them. I have to wear them in deserts, and that irritates me.
I think people would wear sunglasses in any country primarily to save their eyes from the sun, wind, sand or even rain. I think you can buy the shades and specs for rain these days with wipers.
As some people just look dead good with the shades on, they start to wear them to look cool. I don't mind that either. I have nothing against posing and styling, as long as it's not too attentions seeking or out of place on one.
Some people get too used to their shades, and they simply cannot do without them even in the dark.
Some people wear shades because they're naturally blind, or their eyes have some condition/disease which compels them to shades it.
Some people wear shades for sneakily perving, as said before.
Some people wear shades to refrain from beholding and exhibiting the reality.
Etc., etc.................
Horses for courses.
All I have to say is that if you look like Neo or Trinity, you must wear shades without any fear of dpb questioning you.

Yes I replaced a pair of rayban polarised for these
http://www.serengeti-europe.co.uk/pr...le/satin-black
with the polarised, photochromic brown lenses, fanstastic to drive in, no reflection from the back of the lenses like I used to suffer when wearing the Ray bans, as they sit close to the face. They really do make colours crisper, a slight brown tint to everything, but colours much clearer and better defined, , almost like they have a v slight magnification to them, which a few people have asked if they do.
I will happily wear them to drive in - especially good when the roof is down as sunlight cant get in behind the lenses, wear them when mountain biking, walking or shooting.
If I was to buy them again I would try the dark / black lenses as I think they look a bit better.
I don't regret spending the money on them at all.

No, I don't mean that. If I were often in desert, I would have said that I wear shades a lot. I actually said that I don’t. This means I'm neither an Arab nor some Fourth Protocol super hero. What I mean is that whenever I am in desert, no matter how rare it may be, I wear shades in order to prevent my eyes from entertaining storming sand particles in them, if you know what I mean.
I know that I could use swimming goggles in desert for better protection, but they’ll look a bit stupid in that environment.
Yes, that's what I mean with a line or two from my previous post.
Ok, I’ll let you off, then.![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Here’s a poser in shades; the one I spotted in the very last FIFA match. If I had my shades on while spotting him, I would have taken them off to have a damn good look at him>

So, whether dpb likes it or not, some people just look good in shades or in anything they wear. They deserve to use them as props, and pose as much as they like with them on, and you can't do anything about it.

I didn't wear them often...as I needed some perscription ones.
Now I feel the need to wear them as often as possible to justify the cost.
And of course it makes me look better as it covers up part of my face.

No, you're not alone, I'm with you on that.
<Michael Jackson mode on>
you are not alone, I am here with you
Though you're far away, I am here to stay............. La La La La La La............</off>
<Devildog mode on> I think you're a ........ you know what. But I agree with you on this.</off>
Now all we need is someone to come in, and find it ironic.

On a serious note, yes, I don't like hiding behind the shades either. I must admit that the sun glare sometimes does blind me while driving towards a sunrise or a sunset, and I'm a shortie for making the most of the sun visor. So, that's the only time I hopelessly start searching for my blue frame mega shades in the door pocket that are actually gathering dust in my junk cupboard in the house.
Not that I wear them, but I personally quite like cycling shades with rainbow tints. They look quite gangsta imo; in an aerodynamic way.

Going to sound totally wet this I know but I wear mine for driving purely to minimise squinting! I am aware that I am in a state of permanent frown without them. Just some Bloc Polarized ones. Cost around £30. I've never worn a pair indoors. Some say I haven't lived. They could be right......I'm not a pop/rock star. Perhaps that's the key.....wear shades....always.

Regarding socks, as it has been warm summer last year and this year, I've mostly worn slip-on flip floppy fancy footwear during summer months. I mean If you did wear socks with your fancy flip flops on, you'd look like a right weirdo.
So basically I can be sockless from May to Mid August, I think.
Do any of you wear sandals in summer?

I wear sunglasses when it's bright whilst driving, even during winter. Low sun during winter is a ****. ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I also wear them when it's a bit overcast, but, bright behind the cloud. For some reason my eyes hurt when it's like that.

I wore sandals ( sock less ) in Zambia , kind of had to really , not since.
They may still be lurking in the bottom of the wardrobe
So deckshoes or boots, with or without socks.
Never without under crackers unless have to, "perform"

I used to always wear glass polarised raybans as they seemed to improve contrast and make it easier to see in all types of sunlight and help see into the water when fishing. I got sick of them breaking though and they block out the heads up display in my M5 so I switched to the most showy obnoxious overpriced cheap feeling Prada sunglasses the shop had. This plastic pair probably costs 2 quid to manufacture but I like the way they turn half my head into a shiney silver mirror.
To answer the question, both.

I wear them a lot when driving just so I'm not blinded by the sun , and also just to make my eyes feel less strained when I'm tired, which is pretty much all the time so I'll wear them for driving even in just normal daylight sometimes.
I also kinda like pretending nobody can actually see me when I'm hiding behind big sunnies!!
I broke these at Sonisphere and I loved them because they hid most of my face!!;
