Head Gasket or Air lock?

Ok. This is what happened when we believe in Subaru owners with much experience that gives a statement at home...
Guy came and said "Head gasket leaking pressure" just because the main hose was inflating...
Ok, took heads appart and gasket were ok... Replaced it anyway..
Subie friends came to rebuild.. built the cambelt wrong and valves gone... so i had to repair heads that i should never had to take away...
Took it to mechanic, fix the heads, set all in and he found the problem was the water pump... so, i spent like 3000 usd to fix something of 150 usd... car will be ready this week hopefully

theory on the classics is that by the time the gaskets go, the bearings are on there way as well anyway. one does not cause the other as such unless there is oil contamination.
of course if you've got a newage this is not so true as engine is younger and they are suffer hg failures younger especially the 2.5.

In fact despite some of the early new age cars now being 14 years old the engine is more robust for some reason and they don't fail anything like so much - on the 2.0 litre cars.
The 2.5 is a problem engine in STi format with several issues that continue to bug them.

I had the same issue like you when I bought my scooby. No point doing coolant change or waterpump change. I done em all and still the same. Only spilling water in overflow when on boost.
Speak to Paul Finch motorsport. very good engine builder. worked in F1 for McLaren and more. he built lots of brilliant subaru engines!
Done my engine this summer. Done about 6k miles and running at 320 bhp running strong as ever.
Also standard build is under 2k and he is not like the others : aka "2k + VAT".
