There are three things that always emerge out of these threads:

1) As with any other purchase it is incumbent on the individual to do their homework and make a judgement as to the validity of the endorsements give by others
2) Hearsay and personal experience are not interchangeable and do not carry equal weight, so to facilitate point '1' individuals really should specify whether their comments relate to personal experience or hearsay. If it's hearsay, one has to question whether such a comment should be made at all!
3) If you think mapping is expensive, vote with your feet and stick with what Subaru give you as std until the mappers reduce their prices. The rules of supply and demand apply in this industry as much as any other. Why should they reduce prices if they're doing good business at the levels currently set?? Would you?

FWIW I have personal experience of Bob Rawle, who I entrusted with the mapping of my Old Classic Impreza and who got excellent power and torque curves (that's what matters not peak outputs) and utterly reliable results out of a std engined MY99. I then entrusted him with the mapping of a new age with an Engine I had spent 10k on, which also performed superbly. His customer care is also excellent.

Has anybody got any recommendations on mappers in or around the Yorkshire region? Most of the good ones seem to be down south or in Scotland

That's a bit of a shame really fella.
The OP has his side of the story and Duncan has his version too, and a lot of what is in the rest of this thread is hearsay and Chinese whispers.
It's very easy to criticise when things don't go quite how you wish and pick out the niggles. Problems are easily identified and fingers get pointed at the last person to touch the car.
It's not quite so easy to highlight the good points when things go well. What would you say? The car runs like a dream, Mr Mapper is an extremely nice chap, and so on.
Most people haven't a clue what any mapper actually 'does' to get the results they achieve, so they can't really quantify how good the job was apart from in general terms such as my mapper got me an extra 40bhp. Well who's to say a different mapper wouldn't have found 60bhp?
However when there's a faulty part on the car nobody is left in any doubt where the fault lies.

It's perhaps a pity you didn't talk to Duncan first and at least form your own opinion from personal experience instead of being persuaded by a kangaroo court.

I am quite sure he did speak to him first, and if you more or less did read the whole thread (which you clearly did not), what the OP got from the accused was just silence, very simple - the OP got ignored - emails, phone, texts, hence the OP resorted to putting his opinion on here.

as a result, currently you, yourself are spreading hearsay and resorting to persuasions by said kangaroo court, because you do not have the clear picture of all of the events and succession.

Oh the irony!

Blue-by-you was replying to the post above by mulla, not the OP's original post or arguement that ensued.

Perhaps you should also read the thread prior to replying!

It's nothing to do with 'o' and the 'I' buttons. The word you're looking for is 'know'

If you cant travel to a mapper for obvious reasons then look for someone local who has a mapper coming to them for the day, normally 4-5 cars mapped in 1 day but you do have to pay the mapper a travelling charge (normally about £30)

You can arrange for a mapper to come to you but I don't know what that entails exactly sorry.
