domino can you post a photo of your replica wrc, that was my original plan albeit hawk, but without all of the stickers.

I can't upload photo's atm but my profile should have 1 or 2. It's standard with standard gold 17s, mod's coming soon though

Its still not finished but the body isn't a replica body really its a proper wrc body all done out of steel and will have wrc suspenion ,wrc inner wings, wrc sub frames , custom wrc fitment hubs but to take standard shafts ,, basically a wrc scoob without the wrc gearbox or wrc engine add ons

Here is how it looked a while back but havnt been to the work shop in a while for new pics

hey 555,

Exactly like that, I've just pm'ed him so thanks so much for the link.Where are you based?

Domino your blue sti is awesome too, what front splitter is that? Are you being gentle with the 2.5?One of the main reasons I wish I had a JDM is for the "more solid" 2.0

I'm from kent bud and the hawk in the thread had sold a while back overseas to be among others in a collection. It does look very nice indeed and the kit was done by ABW which you can still buy from their website.

I would like to do something like this with no stickers also but to a JDM application preferably. Maybe in a different colour like black, white or maybe red? Initially I was looking at blobeyes as I thought it may be a bit of an overkill on a hawk, but after viewing that thread, it does look stunning.

Domino how much did it roughly cost for all the panel work as I believe something similar was around 15k from WRC spares? Although I would probably be happy with a fiberglass kit from somewhere like ABW, etc.

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

It depends on how much you are willing to spend lol.

For 380hp you would need a forged rebuild, bigger turbo and injectors, 6 speed, better brakes i.e. brembos, larger TMIC or FMIC, better suspension, panel filter, 255/290lph fuel pump and possibly more.
I think your WRX has 260hp but im not sure. The best cheaply and reliable route would be to buy a 255lph fuel pump, panel filter, full decat or sports cat exhaust 2.5" or 3", some bigger injectors such as 440cc at least but 550cc would be ideal and then a remap. Your standard intercooler will be restricing power so a larger newage STi top mount or front mount would be ideal.
If your WRX has a td04 then you will acheive around 280-290hp max but with a TD05-16g you can acheive up to 350hp. I would go for 300-320hp personally to try and save the engine and gearbox.

Most parts can be sourced second hand and with the money saved from that you can spend it on other areas i.e. brakes, wheels, suspension to make it handle better and become a fast road package.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

Agree with 555, always upgrade all areas when upgrading the performance.

I considered a wrx and do the mods myself as a project but as a daily driver I didn't want it in parts all the time, also I'm guessing the "turn a wrx into a Sti" is a very expensive procedure even with second hand parts?

A friend is doing it for hugs and smiles ,, prob the reason its taking so long lol ,,, it cost a lot to do as its a lot of work puting the metal panels on ,,, yeah 15k for the same kit from wrcspares and I wasn't going to pay that ,,, my wrc bumpers and front wings are very diffrent from the wrc copy's and a lot wider but there is also a fair bit of work just getting them to fit as they don't just go on like the replica kit does either ,, it will get there in the end just takes lots of time and money lol

Yeah a complete sti engine, 6 speed, front and rear brembos is already near 4k and that is without all the other bits and labour!

To be honest yes iv been looking after it and waiting for it to go bang but nothing has gone wrong with it at all ,,, but I planned this into buying it so got myself a used forged engine at a great price to go in next weekend ,,, I drive loads of diffrent scoobs all the time and to be honest I'm really glad I went for a 2.5 over 2.0

In that case you may as well just enjoy your WRX for now. Try and go for a newage STi if you can as it will save a lot of hassle and money when wanting more power. The 2.0 STis are pretty much bulletproof and with bolt ons you can acheive 450hp without needing rebuilt engines and gearboxes.

Subaru Collector 555.

I'd go for a near standard STI Type R running around 330bhp as a weekender /Track toy and Blob WRX Wagon PPP with a few handling mods and a set of AP4 pot brakes up front as a daily.

Oh wait a minute.

Think you are right there mate . I do like my WRX , not in no rush to do or wast cash . So I mite go for a intercooler and get the ECU done. And could do with up rating the fuel pump. The set up on the handling is fine it think as the owner before me put a sti set up on it and strut brace bar at the front.
Thanks again for that info u sent me . Am looking into a few things now on e bays . Can I ask u would it make a diff if I just put a sti or prodrive ECU on it . Or would it not run right . Have seen some ECU on eBay . But not sure what I am looking for. Or am I just better to get a piggyback on the ECU I have in the car & map it . If it was your car say you was going to do 3 mods what would they be . Also I have been told the intercooler on it is good for 300bhp is that right . 280/300bhp would do me fine and would keep me happy for a bit lol. Anyway like I say 300 would be fine . Don't want the engine to go bang . .

If I was you I would stick to your own ecu and get that remapped with a piggybank as that is what i have got. An STi or Prodrive ecu from a different car will make your car run into sone issues i.e. wrong fuelling, etc.
3 mods I would do would be fuel pump, exhaust and remap to 300hp max. If you havent already done so replace the standard air filter with a better one for instance K&N, they only cost around £30-40 anyway. I'm not sure what injectors you have but if they are 380cc you will need to replace them as they max out at 280hp and you do not want to run them at 100% cycle duty. 440cc will do and you can pick them up cheaply enough even on here. Intercooler should be fine for 280-300 AFAIK.

EDIT: Fitting a later version TMIC is a lot of work to a V1/V2 so a FMIC is less hassle but is not needed for that hp. So you may only acheive 280-290hp on the standard intercooler but unless you are willing to modify different parts for the extra 10hp its not worth it. Thats just a guess anyway you may be able to acheive 300hp on the standard TMIC without any issues.

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

If the car you would go for is an improved version of your car then your not off topic mate. I think a lot of Impreza owners would choose their own car with some improvements,me included
