EU to levy fines against British government for failing air quality in cities. This is the end of diesel dominated roads. There will be extra taxes levied against older cars without dpf, higher congestion charges for all diesel vehicles unless they can pass the latest emission standards

Can't say I am that bothered about seeing less diesel vehicles. We only have one car left in the family which is diesel now. Once the RS6 Avant drops to a reasonable price bye bye Q7 4.2tdi

Diesel is a very dirty fuel and getting it burn cleanly and effeciently for an everyday car isnt easy... So much so that the technology to "mask" the carbon build up and exhaust emissions is so troublesome, its not worth the hassle of development. Diesels are only any good when turbocharged, and with modern high pressure petrols achieving great mpg with brilliant reliability its a lot easier to push the public in that direction.
People are still a bit dubious of hybrids, but that will change over the next 5/1o years..
Already is adblue on cars, guy at work Porsche macan got it.

Don't know why more petrol owners don't switch to LPG, i'm not a diesel fan, never owned one and don't intend to, converted my misses from diesel to petrol, pre 2000 diesels are even worse than modem diesels and are not good for your health due to the amount of soot they produce

People will or are being put off by them anyhow, making the engines to complicated and a hassle to own.First ever diesel car I bought back in 2008 and had the awful DPF fitted, and because of this, will not go back to a diesel. If I knew at the time how much hassle it would be,I'd have never bought it.
Imagine finishing work at 8pm,start the engine and beep on comes the DPF light, noooooo I'm tired and just want go home, not p1ss balling about driving on a motorway for 20mins to clear it.
Is handy driving to czech though,1100 miles two fuel stops..
