I have to be honest here I am amazed that others have not been banned too as Ian may have reacted but what others said was unforgivable too.

I guess it's a case of a slightly skewed judgement here, the best thing to have done would have be banned all of them, instead of the easy target.

Well said. Unfortunately some, or namely one seems to do and say as he or she pleases. If the moderator likes said person they get away with it.
And people wonder why this site is dying a slow death.

I think the mods were happy to let it go tit for tat until paedophilia accusations were made (the two threads were deleted)... then I think they decided a line had been crossed. TBH as much as I have a lot of differences with Ian I didn't want him banned, but seems the mods made the decision as they saw fit and you have to accept their decision.

I was banned for a month a little while ago for what I still consider to be no good reason, but they decided otherwise and I had to suck it up and accept it.

As I said, if someone oversteps the mark and it spills over into real life then scoobynet and its moderators are liable. But in the dock "but I like them" wont hold water, and certainly wont keep anyone out of prison.

the way i see it it's like banning a 9mm spanner but keeping a 11mm 13mm and 16mm in a subaru owner's tool box

It's not just forums, just life, well people generally speaking. It's just been one of those weeks where all the nutters have been out in force.

You are bang on with the rest of what you say. I wouldn't have met a lot of my current friends had it not been for here, so it does have it's good points. Sadly I missed you at the weekend.

+1

As I've said before, some people post on here in a way they would never talk in real life.

Perhaps that's what it is, a frustration in their real life that forces them to behave in such a way on internet forums. A release perhaps?

Three weeks living like a fecking gyspy? I'd rather gnaw my own nut sack off.

Yeah, forums are like that, they allow you to pretend to be something you're not .. as you of course know with your little name change

It is exactly that. Bitterness and rejection by the real world it has some "followers" on here including moderators that allow him to speak to people how he wants. Some people see red, some people cannot calm themselves down.
In the past when I had a row with some chap I was immediately PM'd the persons full name and address by someone else they'd pissed off. Not that I wanted it, but it obviously happens.

It's just a guess but if Ian didn't report other's and then decided to just take his own action, that could of been the reason why only he was banned.

Can you lot stop spoiling my thread.

Seriously though, there is a thread in policy where this can be discussed and in fairness to me, I am doing my best to explain things from my point of view.

I read this thread, which commented on another. I then found that thread and was offended by the comment I read. Regardless of when it was written it was offensive, absolutely no excuse for it and absolutely no excuse for no action being taken.

Who is to say whether action was taken or not?

F1 is well aware he shouldn't have gone so far as to make the retarded comment, but there is a big difference between making a not very well thought out comment and starting multiple threads calling other users nonces. Therefore, people were not dealt with in the same way.

And when it was reported is relevant considering the comment Chris has just made, that you replied to. You make the suggestion we were pointed in the direction of that comment at the time Ian was dealt with. Ian, nor anyone else reported the retard comment at the time, if that had have been done, we as mods might have had a fighting chance of calming things down before it went so far.

The appropriate action has been taken against Ian and that is public knowledge. Nobody knows if any action has been taken against F1_fan, in fact, as nothing has been said at all, then we are all left to assume nothing has been done.
The appropriate action hasnt been taken against F1_fan because he is still a member of scoobynet.

1. If F1_Fans comment was noted as being offensive then why was it not deleted afterwards?
2. F1_Fan has been banned before, does it appear that he has learnt his lesson from his previous ban?.
3. As a parent calling someone's child retarded is just as bad, if not worse than calling someone a peadophile.
4. Why exactly is F1_Fan, regardless of anyone elses actions, not banned for this comment?
