RIP

Very sad news, for anyone of my generation we grew up with his films and stand up.

I thought he was brilliant in Awakenings

A talented man. Sad loss. A comedy icon who defined so many aspects of my growing up. Mork and Mindy was sheer class. Remembered with smiles. I was only just watching Family Guy's homage episode to Robin last night. RIP.

A lot of actors/musicians do have bipolar (or any kind of mental health issue) as being creative/ playing a character can sometimes help deal with it, and the manic side of bipolar can often be the driving force behind why some actors are so good and so successful, Stephen Fry, Robbie Williams are both a good example of this.
I do think 'bipolar' seems to be the in-trend illness these days, but depression is depression and sadly it can end in suicide.

"Seize the day. Because, believe it or not, each and every one of us in this room is one day going to stop breathing, turn cold and die."

This so you call in trend illness is manic depressive disorder doesn't sound so trendy now does it ....

I preferred him as a serious actor in things like Insomnia and One hour photo. I found his comedy especially on live chat shows very irritating and over the top.

Always sad to see somebody take their own life.

What was it Sarah Mclaughan once said: "If you've got a lot of light, you've probably got an equal amount of darkness."

He had a lot of light!

Rather sad; he brought a lot of happiness into a lot of people's live yet ultimately seemed to lack such happiness in his own life.

I know exactly what manic depression/bipolar is thanks and have mental health conditions myself so I don't like seeing the names of life changing illnesses thrown about.
I've not seen anywhere saying Robin Williams was bipolar, but, my point is, whether it was (bipolar) or the depression and alcoholism that's been reported, the sad result can be suicide.

Don't know why you're getting funny with me

Officials of the Marin County Sheriff's Department have shared details of Robin Williams' suicide. Authorities believe that the actor and comedian hanged himself with a belt in the bedroom of his home in Tiburon, California, near San Francisco. Williams also had superficial cuts on his wrist and police found a pocketknife near him, according to The Associated Press. His personal assistant found Williams' body.
Very sad to be in that state of mind for anyone
