Out of interest what has been the general state of the cars you have been to look at so far? Any half decent ones with the usual stone chips and car park dents. Or have they been smoking, poorly aligned panel examples?

1 had a foot long scuff on rear bumper which was in the advert so I knew about that but nothing else wrong when I asked about the car, so I went to view it lol

1 the guy wasn't in then I got there
2 wheels were the worst condition ive seen for wheels
3 large slice of rubber hanging off the tyre
4 2 or 3 scratches and dents to body work
5 rear tint film on back window was all creased and ruffled
6. front headlights were misted/murky
7 car was unwashed and dirty
8 poor interior

2 car described as immaculate apart from slight crack in front splitter

it was a nice car ill admit apart from the rusted front arch, rust all the way across the front edge of the roof both of which had been painted over which was a poor job, small dent in rear passenger door, car was also parked really close to his garage wall on rear side which said to me it was hiding something, steering wheel was very worn which was worrying to say the car had only done 48000 miles and the slight crack on front bumper was abit more than slight, the bumper was all scuffed above the crack. he did offer to knock a couple hundred off the price due to its condition but I declined. he then messaged me later in the day to say the car had been booked in for the rust to be sorted if I were still interested but if I were he wanted £400 more than what I was going to pay in the first place

both car owners failed to mention all the above when I asked about the cars conditions, which in turn wasted many hours and miles of my time plus petrol money

I think youll find that youve fed him more than me judging by previous threads.
And even though hes romanian he actually knows some of his stuff, you just need to know how to handle him.

Try to avoid posting unless their facts as it dosent help when folk use the search function

hold up newb, i rarely post nowadays. in fact i have only used the site a bit more in the last month due to buying some parts after totb.

please point out where im wrong, just because i know the 2.5 is crap and you claim its not as bad as people think due to the amazing fact of you own one doesnt make me wrong.

Lol judging by the 2.5 engine thread, i seem to recall you feeding him? Is what i meant so no searching back your posts from me.

And saying you think is fair enough but on the link you posted you told me twice it was a twin turbo

Im not giving you a go for slipping up, you just post like you know it all so just as bad as tommy like you say

Take it as you will.

i didnt say i had a wealthy knowledge at all just pointed out you keep posting wrong info. "i think" or "i googled" leads to a lot of car related issues.

as does telling people the 2.5 "is not as bad as people think" with nothing to back it up with at all despite people knowing its crap as they have had one blow up on them and the fact its now being withdrawn from sale in australia and law suits pending in the u.s. about it.

I feel sorry for the OP,he only said he hadn't found a car yet and it's ending up being a big slanging match which has nothing to do with cars! This site is getting more like topgear every day ffs

OK, I've just spent 3 1/2 hours looking through the 2008 engine failure thread and across SN in general but mainly the sticky 2008 thread.I am only interested in first hand experiences, ie they owned the car and no modified cars, although I have included some mildly moded cars, ie exhaust and some cars from across Europe.*The cars listed I think are standard but not 100%.The hatch,2008 onwards including MY11 engine failures........27The hawkeye, including the wrx, sti and rb320.........4I also came across 2 standard blobs that had engine failures but wasn't looking.*API gave a few examples that I don't think were linked to the ones I've mentioned plus a few more that came from reputable people such as Alan Jeffrey etc, these brought the total to about mid 50's.The vast majority of the 2008 thread is made up from only a handful of people with Littleted being the biggest, who funnily enough has had two 2.5 with no problems.*I suspect that if I had looked for just hawks then I would come across more but it's time for my afternoon nap.No doubt someone will come back and tell me my head is up my **** or something to that effect but regardless what anyone else says I am and have been doing a lot of reading up and searching, this is not because I have one or will ever buy a standard non forged one but because iam sad and have nothing better to do.If you double that figure to about 100 that is about 2% of about 5,000, I suspect that more than this have been sold across the uk but playing it safe at 5,000.2% is the average number for engine failures across all marques in Europe.*There has been about 67,000 2.5's sold in Europe so saying that the UK share is 5,000 seems to be pretty fair I think.
ooh a massive threead trying to convince yourself the 2.5's not crap..........thats new
