What I would like to know is how the press were present at his apartment when the police arrived to search it. Presumably the police must have leaked this information to the press. In what world is that right?
As I have said before it's a toss up in this country as to which group are the worst.... the media, the police or the politicians!

So far this could be some trumped up **** making unfounded allegations or to put it simply bare lies and the media are all over it as if the bloke is guilty as charged.
The BBC news tonight was no better than the gutter papers with how they handled it and I do find it an utter ******* disgrace that any organisation can do untold damage to someone's reputation/life before any evidence has been found or any charges brought.
It should be illegal to report on any such investigation until that person is arrested and charged.
This 'story' is pure sensationalism by the press just to whip up a frenzy.
I hope he is found to be innocent not because i'm a fan (far from it) but so the press can be shown once more what a load of scum they are in trying to ruin people's lives.

Is there a need to report arrests?
Is there a need to report charges? There's nothing to say that you can be charged with an offence and then found not guilty.
The CPS are often asked if a prosecution is in the public interest, so is reporting/leaking arrests also in the public interest? Or is the interest simply as Cliff

And Freddie Starr, Jim Davidson, Dave Lee Travis and William Roache! Innocent until proven guilty used to be a cornerstone of British justice. Seemingly the police and the press (and half of SN) are happy for that to go by the wayside.

Report arrests? What, all of them? That's either a lot of tip-offs or a full time job.

Being charged surely indicates there is substance to the claims unless as ex plod you are claiming charging someone can be completely baseless? But I agree until actually convicted they shouldn't be destroyed by the press.
My point was that the press are blowing this up as if he has already been found guilty when in fact the police are simply investigating at the moment and it could all be a load of lies made up by some scumbag.
