Sounds on par with my trip through Rouen in the evening whilst the funfair was out and the main bridge closed.....3hours to get through what normally takes 15minutes. That would be fine if it hadn't been for the 6hours of driving beforehand.

There was a diversion sign...one tiny yellow french sign at the hard shoulder.....on a busy four lane motorway!

To be frank though avoid the M25 on Friday during the daytime. Traffic on there is just stupid. Worcester M5 is bad enough at the mo...40mph speed limit on a fecking motorway!!

4, When reversing into a service yard with hazards on, why do cars still have the need to drive behind/around and not stop and wait as im half way through a manoeuvre.

^^This annoys me on a daily basis, sitting on the M25 in heavy traffic and driving in Central London where no one has manners and in a rush is part of my job that I can put up with!!
A lot of car drivers don't no what hazards are for mate .I hate it when cars park on corners on double yellows and if you hit it they come out screaming

It'd be nice if it worked properly. How many times have you driven on a variable speed limit motorway to be met with gantry signs say 50mph "due to congestion"

Even at 2:00am when there is zero traffic bar the odd truck and night shifter. The sign alone causes choas as people panic brake thinking a speed camera will nab them

LOL, got caught there too a while back...almost missed my ferry at Zeebrugge, some "spirited" driving from Rouen to there ensued.

But this year I went to the centre of Rouen up the A139, through tons of traffic. And where did I end up? Crossing the Pont Mathilde......the ***** had forgotten to say it was open, and replace the sign for Calais off the A13

And being a biker, my biggest pet hate is hgv drivers who have absolutely no fckuking idea of how intimidating 35 tons of arctic is when sat 10 feet from my ****!!!

Kings of the roads my a*se! If the moron who nearly wiped me out on the way to work last week had half a brain he'd have been gifted lol.
If the road is limited to 60 and i'm doing 55, why did he need to overtake. given that at 60 he's going to be bouncing of his limiter.
Not only that, but he had no idea that to overtake even without a full load, he needed considerably more room than the 75ft of cab & trailer he was driving.

So captain moron pulls out, goes steaming past only for a car to come the other way. so what does the gallant knight of the road do. sacrifice his sad sorry ***... . brake and drop back in behind me ... like f*ck he does.

He just comes back into the lane! So he's halfway past me, and he's now closing the door on the 7 feet of available space left that's my life space!

I braked like no tomorrow and as luck would have it he missed me.
So what did captain moron do then. slow down?, stop , appolgise for almost wiping me out? like f*ck!, he just carried on oblivious to the roundabout 100yds up the road, where he turned left into a trading estate.

So no, i think there just as bad as car drivers

The thing about being a biker is that most Hgvs wont see you if your up close behind the trailer. If you carnt see his mirrors then I can guarantee 100% he wont see you.I see *** heads on bikes that try under taking a artics on the left which is so fu**ing dangerous its unreal but they do it anyway.Bikes are fast and so light if a truck swerved the slightest bit it will throw you and proberly kill you.Trucks are killing machines in there own right.Motorists that cut these up either are totally stupid and are brain dead or they do it to **** people off because if these trucks had to brake it doesn't react like a car,the trucks will shunt you right up the motorway and kill before it stops, they carry a ****e load of weight and takes longer to stop.I my opinion motor bikes should stay clear of trucks completely instead of rushing trying to get past.Bikes should give them selfs plenty of distance between themselves and the truck. He could hit you kill you and not no at all.

Finally open? bloody hell! - I think they've managed to resurface all the toll roads in the same time its took to fix that bridge.

I wouldn't know...I skip it all and go down the D6015 until I reach the A13. Last time I avoided Rouen altogether and drove to Spain via Dijon. That was a mistake....all was well until I reached Lyon and suddenly every man and his dog decided to evacuate to the south coast....a rush hour that lasted for most of the day.

He was BEHIND ME!!!

if he cant see a bike with the rider wearing a white helmet,

& HI VIS orange vest. Then i would seriously ask if he should be driving his

rig. Not only that, but the stupid sod followed me for 3 miles, before

deciding to make his bloody overtaking stunt.

Sounds like a a55hole mate, should have got his reg and phoned his company, as it was a close miss with you, what if he kills someone next time!!!

Did it have UK plates??? Because I find a lot of the foreign lorry drivers come flying past me when im doing 55mph and there clearly doing 60-65mph with a higher limiter or no limiter at all.

Also I laugh at how many foreign lorry drivers come to a roundabout and just carry on with out giving way to the right and no regards to other motorists. Also I see so many foreign numberplate lorry drivers on the hard shoulder of the motorway with 1-2 panel damaged car behind it, swapping numbers(see this 2-3 times a day) of using the M5, M42, M40, M25 on a daily basis!!

On both of their "Chassee-croisee"** days this year, they have been reporting over 550km of tailbacks throughout France.
Other days have produced over 300km.

Have you tried any of the "Routes Bis"? Go onto the "Bison Fute" site and download a map, or stop at a Bison Fute on one of the bigger motorway services and ask for one. Great routes, easy signing, (no town names, just "Route Bis" in green or yellow, depending on if you are going south or north), and usually loads of small eateries, hotels etc for stops.

** The days, usually Saturday, when those who have finished their holidays, return, and those who are about to start, set off. Mayhem usually reigns.

The only good thing about that Pont Mathilde is that the burning alcohol ran THROUGH the road way and set fire to five Gyppo caravans parked underneath....what a shame....not.

where are the near misses in that video ? I think you have summed up what annoys me about the kind of people who have dash cams and the like on their cars.

There are at least three lorries that indicate and begin to move, forcing him to change lanes.

What happened to "Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre"?

You signal, then wait for a space, not signal and beginning moving, forcing someone to GIVE you space.

What lane should I be in if I'm doing 70 on the motorway?

'Keep left unless overtaking', I'm not overtaking anyone, so I'm in the left lane. Or because I'm doing 70 should I hog the right hand lane so no one can pass me?

Dartford crossing is a ****, just be glad you don't have to use it regularly Jeff...still it's about to be changed to congestion charging type affair in the next few weeks so that should help; no more booths you have to pay online.

I know. Is there a website?

I'm intrigued as to how it will work if I go south through there, leave the country at Dover, and don't return to the country for eight weeks, for example? Can I be expected to have internet access? What if I haven't?

And what of Johnny Foreigner? Most, I reckon, just won't pay....so the tolls will need to rise again to make up the shortfall.

Google is your friend

http://www.highways.gov.uk/our-road-...iver-crossing/

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/d...remote-payment

Same deal as CC in central London; advance payment is preferential but there will be a short grace period. Apparently a deal has been done with other countries across Europe that will enable fines to be levied as applicable...how effective that is remains to be seen.

No it's still free between those hours

oh and there is no short fall; the crossing was paid for a good few years ago but despite the Government promising the tolls would be abolished as son as the cost for the crossing re-cooped they (Labour) sold it to a French company. *****.
