Darrell - care to inform the OP what you charge RCM for the build (with documented proof) so we can see how much "Cream" was added?
AFAIK, the OP contacted RCM through a solicitor to inform them how he wanted to progress and gave them 7 days to respond................. the 7 days has been and gone.
Once again - I am hearing this information from his family members and my comments are based on these.

On a rebuild they will want to replace everything.
If they didn't replace all parts then it went again everybody would be saying well after first issues i cant believe they didn't replace everything and make sure its 100% this time round.
RCM couldn't win on this one???

It's something I'd like to have known, there's nothing wrong with that is there?
Or is this the start of you getting on your little Scoobynet high horse towards me after what I said in another thread? Grow up.

For me with regards to pricing if the OP is happy to pay £XXX to get his brakes done then fair play to him. Whats it matter that RCM made a few quid (probably) on top. ALL businesses do the same. They are afterall in it to make money as well as provide a service etc...
Anyway hope it gets sorted asap for the OP.
Cheers

If anyone's stirring the **** it's you trying to get a reaction.
How in any way shape or form am I stirring the **** by asking what the overall profit is on RCM's behalf through Scoobyworx?
I'm asking a simple question, Scoobyworx replied and said they wouldn't be posting details, end of. Don't need some jumped up 'I've been here since 2004 Scoobynet fanatic' trying to jump down my throat.

OP has gone with RCM because of their track record and by the looks of it they've let him down and charged him through the teeth for the privilege.

Dies it matter how much RCM make, they are a business not a charity.
FWIW I've had many parts from RCM in the past and their service is exceptional. They might be a few £ more than others on some parts, but I'll happily pay that little bit more knowing I'll get a great service.
As others have said, there are two sides to every story, as seeing RCM don't come on here we won't know the full story, so I'm not going to read too much into this thread.

What is the breakdown for the £3600 bill that they have now thrown at you ???
Bearing in mind they will sell you a fully built forged 2.5 short motor for a little over 4K. And that includes a brand spanking new block...

With regards to how much money they make/profit.
Funnily enough businesses are in business to make money otherwise they soon go out of business. It sort of stands to reason.
Whether they manufacture or simply sell on and/or fit other companies parts and services is their business and our choice as to who we use.
We all have a choice as to who we spend our money with. Research and recommendation should play a part of this prices along with instinct and experience.
Personally i shop around, cheapest not always best, warranty and backup also play a part.
If the OP has an issue with RCM and it has got litigious then i am surprised it is being so openly discussed on a public forum.
Seems to be a few people with axes to grind from behind thier monitors and some sh*t stirring to boot, see scabbynet hasn't changed much then....

Some or their parts cost more because they have modified them (eg, Oil Pumps) and the extra cost for their work is money well spent...... however paying RCM X for a Subaru Water Pump that can be bought RETAIL from Subaru for Y is wrong! great for business, but wrong!
the OP was informed that this engine build (for his ROAD CAR) HAS NO WRITTEN GUARANTEE WITH IT! - they have never had an engine go wrong so far so they don't need to give one out........ so you pay for all that work and you get no written guarantee on the parts or the workmanship??????
Had they given the OP the parts for the 2nd engine rebuild at TRADE (they still get to claim the VAT back on that lot) and built it without charging for labour (I know they are not a charity but they are also not losing money as they get the VAT back on all the parts and more importantly, they look after a customer tho have already spent 12K with them) , then I would be giving them a 10/10 for customer service..... as it is, they have failed in that department.

I have no axe to grind, I am 400 miles away from RCM , have no need to use them (build my own engines) but I will happily buy RCM Fuel Rails, Vernier Cam Pullies, modified Oil Pumps and Baffled Sumps ( I have all the said items on my current car)............... because they make the best versions of those parts, without question.

Fanboy alert!! RCM are good but not infallible. As always you are always as good as your last job.
If as suggested you think that rcm are not active and watching threads of this nature I do have some magic beans for sale. (they come in a nice box)

It would appear that they charge thousands more over some other well known engine builder's that on top of that give you a guarantee if what I read is true, are they really so much better than the other top builder's?
The "other top builders" will most likely use the same part and places like Enginetuner are not exactly amateurs so for the extra amount which is a LOT you really do need a job and service head and shoulders above the rest, I suspect that some of the extra they charge is because they can, not because its worth it.
The bigger the company and the more they charge the more they should be subjected to scrutiny, NOT LESS imho.

I just know from experience there are two sides to every story, we've seen that literally hundreds of times on Scoobynet.
Scubbay - I sincerely hope that wasn't aimed at me. I'm no fanboy at all, just appreciate good service when i receive it. Most of my parts come from AS Performance FWIW.

The op said he was fine with paying top dollar for them to carry out the work, which is fair enough.
From what I make of it he was annoyed that no one advised to change the big end bearings which subsequently let go. I know if I was paying that kind of money then I would expect someone as meticulous as RCM to advise on this in the original quote/estimate.
As said before best contacting them directly to resolve

Right guys i work nights so have not been able to reply all day. When i took the car to them there was no mention of looking at the big end our changing it out. The fact is it went to them in February and they still have my car in pieces. 12k for what they have done is expensive and for it to take this long and then for them to blow my car up and expect ME to pay another 3600 (JUST IN PARTS) is crazy. For everybody that is saying go and talk to him i have spoke to Olly. Nothing got resolved that is why i have got a solicitor involved because 16k for this is crazy. I wasn't even getting much more power. In the start i asked for the bill to be kept under 10 and when it was finished the bill was 12k so that was 2k over original. They have take me for a fool because i work away for a month at a time and now they have blown the car they re trying to cover there backs. It is robbery of 16k I will post the list of parts for both builds 1st and after they blew it.
