I bought my first Scoob in 2000, i promised myself i would get an Escort Coswurf before i was 25. I got to 23 and could afford to buy and run the car but wasn't prepared to pay £1500+ a year on insurance, when i saw in a car mag how cheap UK Turbos were to insure in comparison to the Cossie ie half, it was a no brainer. 14 years down the line and onto my 4th Scoob with a 18 month dalliance with a ST205 Celica GT4 in between. I think i will always have one.

Kids! I was rolling in my stripped caged s2 escort turbo when the missus said we were expecting.I thought hmmm I need 4 doors something fun fairly common for parts an impreza I had licked but was out of reach before but now it ticked the box s this was 2006 so sold the escort bought a wrx and have nt looked back now on no7.

1997 school hols (summer) with friends at a bus stop in Farnworth and this noise just came from no where then drove round the corner opposite to me faster than I knew possible. I was lucky to get my first one at 19 but soon had to sell because it was running me dry. That was by far my best moment, to own a turbo when all my mates were in 1.0 cars was great, worst part about subaru ownership is the community dìckheads on here, never known anything like it.

For me it was the noise primarily but also the bang per buck ratio was very favourable.

Tbh I never liked them. Drove a friends classic uk turbo 2000 round the ring and was instantly hooked!
Since then owned several and hoping to own a few more.
As a few have said sound is a massive factor lol

I'd never really thought about owning one until I was in Motor Point Derby trading my pain in the **** Passat that had been nothing but trouble in the 6 months I'd owned it, I was going for a Volvo D5 for my business and got a nice trade in value on the Passat (£2k more than I paid for it at auction) which meant I just about broke even on it. The deal was pretty much done when I came out of the office I saw a gorgeous black WRX that the valet guys had just parked up, so as you do I went and had a look around it and saw it was £4.5k cheaper than the Volvo, on the drive home I couldn't get it out of my head and eventually went back to have a test drive of that and an STI they had in which was also cheaper than the Volvo.

In the end I plumped for the WRX as I didn't like the gear box, big spoiler, bright blue interior or the harsh ride of the STI, as I was going to be doing rather a lot of miles I wanted a small amount of comfort and to not be up and down the gears all the time, the STI was also a bit garish for me where as the black WRX looked quite classy back in 2004.

Never looked back on my 4th one and can't live without one in my life.

As above, love the sound, handling and bang for buck.

In 2000, a guy next to my Dads unit got himself a 1995 WRX and had it tuned to 300bhp by Power Engineering.

He took me for a ride and I was hooked.
He then got himself a Evo 6 Tommi Makkinen edition. Again, he took me out in it and I was just in complete shock at how good it was.

In December 2003, I started looking and by Christmas Eve, I ended up with this little beauty:



I sold it, bought an MR2 Turbo, got board with that and then bought this:



Then bought and Integra Type R and although a great car, I hankered after another Scooby so got this:



Then, I got married, bought our first house and became a father, so 5 years went by before I was in a position again to buy my current Impreza which I have had for just over a year:





I just love to instant 'get up and go' that these cars have.
Never felt the need to go past stage 1 mods either as I feel that they have more than enough power as an every day car.

I bought my first off the cuff! Had no intention of buying one is an honest answer, but the right car came up at the right price to which I couldn't turn down! It was an 03blob with money spent in the right places and always looked after so it was win win! I literally went to see one of my good friends one day and his mrs said she was upgrading and was offered silly money for a trade, so rather than give them the profit I had it for the same money

From there I have pushed for more power and have changed to a JDM blob with circa 453/446 and I must say I love it. Also got regular use of an xf-rs jag with 550hp on tap of my old boys, it is my mission to put him in his place LOL!

Had a wide variety of cars inc a 400hp pulsar which I'll be honest I loved! The launch on that thing was incredible, proper little pocket rocket! Along to M3's, cupra R Ibiza, a lot of vauxhall c20let conversions and xe conversions.

To this point I think I'm touching 50/60 (could be more tbh give up trying to remeber now )cars but have now calmed down I love my JDM blob for some reason! It just does what I want a car to do, which is handle well but scare the shìt out of you at the same time, DCCD set to fully rear on a damp roundabout with an over enthusiastic foot and you soon get to grips with it, or it will have you in a hedge

I'm going through a phase of trying to drive as many different cars as possible and not planning on having the scoob for long. Pretty sure I'm not the first person to have said this though!

I have always loved the Subaru WRX .
And like most of you watching Colin in the 555 and being into rally I was hooked strat away . But I also love the evo's .
But alot of my mate had evo so did not want to follow what they was getting .
I have had a lot of powerful car , I.e ford Cosworth , rs trubos , Renault 5 gt trubo . And so on . My larst car was a golf r32 240bhp I did like it alot . But then just to **** me off my mate who had a r32 got it twin trubo add it to it . That was when I got rid of it as I could not afford to put a trubo on to mine . So after looking for a few weeks finding alot of crap ones . You no what I meen rust on the back arches & so on the one I got now came up . Not a mark on it , & a classic witch is what I wanted . Only 3 owns 1 in Japan , the man that imported it into the uk & now me . I would never go back to any other car .
The Subaru WRX or the sti is one of the best cars out there . & the wife loved it when she see it as well .now that's a win win when the wife loved it . Lol. And they say the wife or wifes are never wrong lol.

Colin McRae Rally, and GT on the PS1 was my first interest in Impreza's.

Few years later, around 2001, a lad that I worked with parents had an S plate UK turbo. I pestered them for weeks for a go, but, they wouldn't let me drive it. One Saturday night, a few of us were going for a drink, his dad, Sid, said to call round on the next morning and he'd take me and Lisa out in it, if we remembered. There was no chance I was going to forget.

Blown away doesn't come close, the quickest thing I'd ever driven until then was a 1.4L Escort. They bought a bar in Benidorm a couple of months later, their son (obviously) went with them, as did another of my mates, so we arranged a holiday. On our last night there, we were having a couple of beers. Sid called me over to the bar, and said, "howay, you've been waiting all week to go out in the Impreza again." Blown away by the speed of it again, I've got a photo of the speedo somewhere sitting at around 140mph.

Fast forward to 2005. My Cav GSI was written off, and the question was what to replace it with? I looked at a few different cars, Pulsar, Evo, Impreza etc, got offered a Cav Turbo, but, I couldn't make my mind up.

One day I was stood waiting to use a cash point, a quite loud Impreza came passed and fcuked off up the hill behind at a rapid rate of knots. Just the sound of it made my mind up for me.

2 weeks later I bought mine.

Bit weird for me. I never wanted a Subaru really. I had just sold my SLK and needed a four seat preferably four door sensible car as having 4 children made a 2 seater impossible. I was driving past a Ford Dealer and there was a Blue Blobeye STi up for £9,995.

Now I'd seen lots of Imprezas on the Island and many loud idiots having a lot of fun at weekends and just wondered what the fuss was about so realising I could get one at a thoroughly reasonable price took a test drive. They put new tyres and re-fitted the cat and Standard exhaust and new rear shock mounts in the price so I thought, why not. I am 40 after all. Insurance was OK., so there you go.

Lost that poor gem on black Ice a couple of months into ownership so ended up with the current Hawkeye Spec D and this one's a keeper.

Always been a huge rally fan and former co-driver back in the day, I loved the night stages, where all you could hear in the forrest was the amazing sound of the flat four with anti-lag coming, followed by big lights and glowing brakes. After being a passenger in a first-gen 1995 WRX when they were new, and feeling how rapid it was - I knew I had to own one at some point. Had a GTi-R which helped for a while, then recently sold a sensible DS3 daily driver to purchase a 2005 WRX. It brings such a smile to my face driving it, and it surprises me how much attention it still gets when driving around. Love it.

Was not allowed a bike any more - as decided by "the management", therefore I negotiated that I needed comparable acceleration, in the safe constraints of 4 doors. She has not yet been in it. Love the burble, neighbours..... not so much.
