Obviously as the 911 driver, this would **** you off if this happens all the time, but don't think that everyone behind you actually thinks they're quicker

I have never had a 911, Ferrari or similar **** all over my car, it's very funny when you leave 911 turbos at well over 100mph in a straight line and they look like they are parked up .

I was wanting to be past a 911 turbo and hw would not move out of the outside lane and while he was accelerating I could slow down and accelerate and still remain on his tail till he decided to pull over .

Unless you drive a lorry, you don't realise what a pain in the **** a car doing 55 ish mph is. Do yourself a favour, pass your hgv and become a better driver!

probably the same as when you get stuck behind one of the hgv ***** who takes 3 miles to overtake another hgv at 00000.1 mph faster completely blocking the road and causing a 20 car tailback.

It's not the fastest but as a fully trimmed road car sitting at around 680bhp and 1320kgs the only people I know that have more powerful cars are usually stripped out racers

If I ever see you in my mirrors, I'll make sure it's a nice long uphill overtake so I have plenty of time to suss out if your roof vents real or a stick on one!

may be you're nursing your car along at 50 in a 60 zone. these people are late for work or need to get somewhere and you are in their way.
what the hell does it matter if someone wishes to get past?
drop it down a cog and speed off- ha ha ha most impreza's couldn't shake off a modern diesel turbo in the mid range

There is always quicker, people on the roads are generally ***** now and everyone want to be past you or they will sit in a lane to stop you getting past.

I think it should be like the USA where you can drive in any lane and I presume road rage amongst normal people won't be as bad with the fact if you **** someone off he will have a gun

ok so imprezas are not as fast now as some modern machinery but some people still hold them in high regard and see them as some sort of benchmark to measure their cars against hence why the twonks in clios etc try it on. there,s a girl 3 doors along from me who recently told my partner that my impreza isnt very fast and that she left me for dead one day and flew past me. now i dont even remember seeing her at all that day and drove quite normally to and from work yet supposedly i was in a race with a bog standard clio which blew my doors off! im guessing she saw me and roared past me with her poor little engine revving its tit$ off while i was casually driving home oblivious to the "race" that unfolded. just ignore the pillocks and enjoy your car m8.

I can get past most of the big bikes as they hang back thinking they are going to waste you and they are always in the wrong gear when your next to each other as over 70mph on a motorway I'm always on boost

I used to have a 997 Gen.1 Carrera S, and it was quicker than any of my Subarus before my current pair. They're quite a lot more focussed than the majority of Imprezas, but not all.

It wouldn't have seen which way my Cosworth went, but that's not surprising as it's around 50bhp down on that.

I'm pretty sure a newage RA car would streak ahead of it to around 80-90mph but would soon lose out to the 911 after that, they do have impressive top end range.

So its not worth the points yet you still did it???
Plus a 911 is a far faster car than an impreza!

I imagine the starlet driver just didn't have the tope end grunt as he should have smoked you really.....

Have to agree with Steve I've never been left by anything including any bikes I have come across, and when you have the power you are more careful with it because things can go wrong 10x quicker! I only have a measly 535hp in 1120kg though!!!!

Sorry, but you've either been very lucky or you're talking sh1te which seems to be the norm on SN these days.

Most serious bikes will murder a car on acceleration to anywhere near legal speeds... that's any car.... and on braking while they are not quite as good as some top end car brake set ups the difference in acceleration will have been more than enough to win the day if the rider knows what they are doing.

in 2010 Visor Down attended Autocar's 0 -100 - 0 supercar test with some bikes. The Suzuki GSXR-1000 and the Yamaha Thunderace bested everything in a 0-100-0 test (well not quite, an Ariel Atom split them, but that is hardly a road car) and on acceleration to 100 outside of the Atom the closest car was some 2.8s slower (Lamborghini Murcielago). These weren't even state of the art bikes, in fact the Yamaha was 10 years old.

Bikes can regularly do 0-100 in between 5s and 6s.... a Porsche GT3 does it in 8.8s

If you have an Impreza that can accelerate to 100 in 5s I would like to see it.

Well, having been to a drag strip and raced bikes I can confirm that only 2 bikes on the day were faster than me....

1x hayabusa turbo
1x 2013 zzr 1200

the top 5 times were an austin in 1st

hayabusa 2nd

zzr 3rd

space frame + Carbon shelled r34 GTR

and then me....

all split by less than 5 10ths of a second...

On the road there are not many bikes or riders who can use them to their potential..... And to be honest, I wont do licence loosing speeds on the road anyway, ill take it to the race track, then its a fair race and the timing slips say it all And the timing slips sy that all the other bikes in attendance were driven by numpties or slower than my car, it doesnt really matter which, winning is winning

EDIT - put ZZR 1200 it was infact a 1400, D'Oh

Further Edit -

You are assuming the bike been driven by a professional rider who can actually achieve these kind of speeds and time, most people who own a motorbike or a supercar for that matter will not be able to get anywhere near the stated 0-60 times etc of their vehicle. Nor are they the last of the late brakers....

You are forgetting playing on a road is very different to a race trackwith no risk of damage, harm or losing your licence

Did an 11.00 Bare in mind the drag strip we race at is more of a farmers track albeit with proper timing equipment, times are no where near what a proper race track would be

Keep in mind some of the Subarus being mentioned have a little bit more power to weight than the GT2 (GT2 has 620bhp) and the bike is more powerful than most superbikes, has traction control and a professional rider.

Yep, only question that needs to be answered is who's talking it.

JGV seems to have supported what he's said, not simply jumped to conclusions.
CN's post adds weight as well.

Always good to see an argument supported by facts, not a$$talk.

Btw anyone got the definition of what "most serious bikes" are?
Perhaps they're ones a rider's not allowed to smile on ?

The GT2 has a power to weight ratio of 460 bhp/tonne... it weighs about the same a Scoob so I can't see too many Subarus have any significant power to weight advantage and at a decent speed a GT2 is way more slippery than a Subaru which has a far greater effect than power at high speeds.

At the end of the day no car will live with a well ridden modern sports bike, sorry but if you don't accept that you have no idea what bikes are capable of or are just too blinkered to understand facts!

Welshman, my argument is supported by facts, they are there in my posts. You just choose not to read them as you are too ready to spout some more childish nonsense. So to answer your question it is you talking sh1te.... as you do nearly every post you make on these threads. You are one tiresome bore and clearly not with any understanding of physics!

I live local to Santa pod and high power sports bikes run around the 9.5 second mark,it takes something pretty potent to do that in a car.
not saying you didn't beat one as of course its also down to the rider, but I can't see any road car beating a fast road bike in a standing sprint.
