My post was in reference to boosted and not the OP. For the OP I'd consider other upgrades before the WI. As I said above it needs to be done at the right stage of the modding process as it's fairly dear and can be hit and miss if not set up properly.

FWIW

I have done some testing with Intercooler Spray on a front mount. I made a DIY system but using carefully selected parts including 4 nozzles which atomized the water pretty well.

I had it on a manual switch and fitted an temp sensor and gauge just before the TB. The gauge had a response time of 1sec so updated every second to give an accurate reading of what was happening. I fitted the nozzles in different positions around the FMIC, trying to find the most effective configuration.

On the motorway driving at a steady 70 mph, I could drop the charge by 4 deg cel. Now, I'm not sure if 4 deg cel is worth the effort but it does work.

it probably drops the temps by a few degrees but what effect this has on the cars performance is questionable, also now we are coming into the cold winter weather where the air is damp and cool id say its going to lessen the effect even more.
but more to the point its pretty much a pointless mod in the pursuit of performance unless you have a vastly modified car where every tiny bit helps.

I think dropping the charge temp by a few degrees will at best only give you a little more 'overhead' in reducing knock when IAT are high.

yes so a far better mod in the ops case is to fit a more efficient intercooler, but this wont increase power at his level either.

Or one of those traffic light ones that came with a pin so you could release the odor, if your old enough to remember them.
