They were et25 that isn't less than 20? Anyway cheers for the input but I don't want to clog this up with more wheel talk, do you know anywhere good for a halfcage/rollbar?

Custom Cages.

Look on the cosmis website, if you fit the adapter spacers from CDF you can fit decent (non cheap flaky wheels) that will have an ET of approaching 0...

I don't want adapters, direct fit wheels only, the last ones you linked were 5x114 aswell, what's flaky about xxr's anyway? What wheels do you run?

XXR's are cheap tat, the paint/coat on them flakes quite quickly. Same as rotas, cheap nasty knock offs of decent wheels.

I unfortunately have a cheap nasty set of rotas at the moment, but I am going to be running 17x9 et -5 Cosmis MRII's. They are going on this weekend. I don't see the issues with adapters as long as you get decent ones. The ones I have ordered will deal with the slicks and 500+hp with launch control.

Xxrs and rotas are cast imitations made out of cheap materials. The Cosmis much like rays and weds sports etc are forged, super strong, very light and the paint won't flake off in 6 months time.

My rays te37s look as good as the day I bought them....

Adapters add rotational weight and non of us want that, plus they look crap, xxr paint is much better than rota rubbish, I've had mine over a year now and they still look like new, Im not defending knock off wheels but xxr do a good job for £600, they are reasonable in weight and came in the size I needed, Pretty sure those cosmis you linked me too are a replica work emotion xt7 even if they are forged, out of interest what flares are you running to use -5et? As that is 21mm further out than the rear of my car! Will look mental at that

The rotational weight of the spacers is more than made up for with the weight saving by having a forged wheel.

The design might not be 100% original but the manufacturing process makes them a premium wheel in their own right.
Will be running abw arches with the wheels

How wide are abw arches? You will do well to fit a -5!

Got a 17mm extension past the arch, but that is due to tyre size, so I'll pull the arches out as much as possible with my arch rolling tool before fitting the abw arches. It'll be fineeeeeee! Haha

Safety devices make a demountable trackday rear cage for the classic.. I bought one to use for sprinting in my type RA. Comes out if you want to use the rear seats. Got mine from scooby clinic . Also available from RCM. Pics are on safety devices web site..

It only comes as a specific rear cage.. no front section to go with it. Nice bit of kit... mounts from rear suspension points so acts as a chassis stiffener too.. Not cheap though. I paid £500.

Cast wheels made in Taiwan and aren't all that light either from what I've read about them.
They do some bloody nice looking wheels though.

I know nothing regarding wheels and sizes etc so I'll ask a noob question.
On these widebodies are wider wheels required to make up the difference between wheel and arch or are spacers used also?
I've often wondered if wider axles are used and I don't like the idea or spacers.

Some use spacers if they don't want the expense of buying proper wheels. Spacers are a cheaper option and means you wouldn't necessarily have to buy a new set of wheels when you go for wider arches.
The better option is to use a wider wheel with low offset

I actually spoke to Cosmis today via email just to confirm a few things and I can now confirm that they are indeed a cast wheel
