Dewani case starts today

The money comment was a flippant one tbh
The point I was making is that I have been around couples long enough to know that couples sometimes stay together/attracted to each other for very personal and complicated reasons
Often I have said to my wife, on the drive home from a dinner party "why on earth is <insert name> with that **** <insert name>
The fact is that sometimes <insert name> actually likes the way the are treated, i.e belittled, shouted at, controlled, told what to do or wear etc etc maybe because they have low self esteem and self confidence
<insert name> can be either sex, I make no distinction

Maybe Anni knew he was gay and enjoyed the dynamic -who knows, people are strange creatures
I do agree that people are strange creatures. There must be some straight women who might like to marry gay men because it gives them a buzz. I think a straight man will be more inclined to marry a lesbian for sexually exciting reasons than a straight woman marrying a gay man.

You'd have to wonder why she'd gone with this guy at all, I mean she must have suspected his sexual leaning.
Anyway, I don't think he's paying for gugulethu site seeing tour

Well he was loaded and very 'eligible', especially for her given the ethnicity thing. That sounds racist but I don't mean it that way.

Ethnicity and culture of the couple are relevant in this case on societal level regardless of it being relevant enough to the court whose focus is on the charge- whether Dewani orchestrated the murder.
Duncan says that Anni should have seen the signs before marriage, correct. But the boy could have lingered her on with the Indian culture ethic of 'no intimacy before marriage'. It's possible that this is what Anni experienced with him. She still was very impressed by his pretty face, educated waffle and his wealthy status, so she thought she'd wait for her Prince Charming until after marriage. As she was Westernised to a point, she, of course, felt frustrated with him while dating hence the rows. But she could have been relying on the 'no intimacy before marriage' Indian bullsh7t he was giving to her, and ended up marrying the gay man.
He has said now boldly in the court that he's a Bi, which is a lie. He is clearly gay. Again, due to the culture and taboos his ethnicity imposed on him, he wasn't able to say that openly to his parents and instead he went ahead marrying a girl, killing her and ruining the lives of her loved ones forever. We know why he's now giving the Bi thing to court, anyway. Now anyone who is interested in this case due to the twisted bedroom details of Dewani and his prostitute need to go back reading the Sun. Judge has told- "Move along, there's nothing to see here".
I'm glad the video is out. He's a cold blooded brutal murderer- simple as. Coward, selfish, heartless and a very manipulative evil man, who'd do anything and harm anyone to get his pleasures with keeping two faces to the world at the same time. Hope court takes the evidences against him seriously and nails him prim and proper.

Based on the evidence submitted so far, I think Dewani could go free on the assumption he is either guilty or not and there is no middle ground like in the Pistorius case.

Specific maybe not
But why on earth would he be even in the same room as Tongo if he'd previously run for his life from him?

The prosecution has to prove him guilty of course and it's my guess they have made a total hash of their case, plus Dewani has some expensive lawyers.

The trial is adjourned until 8th December while the judge considers the defence dismissal application.
I'd be surprised if Dewani doesn't walk free when the judge does makes her decision.

Pontificating
I doubt this will be the end of it, her family will take out a private prosecution no doubt.
Not sure if they can do that here or whether they must do it in SA.

Apparently the prosecution handling of the case was shambolic.
I suspect a legacy of the pre-apartheid system where, with a coloured defendant, the prosecution simply had to turn up
