Thread is about the fat Newage in general. I suppose my question is relevant to all cars though.

The 5 speed PPG option for the Newage, is it similar ratios to the WRX or does it depend?

It depends on the ratios

Are longer ratios easier on the gearbox?

+1 if you're purely going on power to weight. But a weight stripped car can be a very unpleasant place to be.

Off the top of my head the Blob WRX is 1395Kg give or take a few kilos for different markets.

The lightest newage car would be one of the Bugeye variants.

The Bugeye Spec C was ultra raw and these cars weighed in at under 1300Kg.

I suspect the Bugeye WRX Type RA was lighter but I'm unable to find any info on the weight of one via Google on my iPad.

Anyone know who owns the world's fastest STI or WRX Newage?

The question should not be how, but why?

Standard Evo VII GSR front door ( with no trim, door bars removed, fully built up with carbon wing mirror, locks and lightweight glass, no trims) weighed 17.5 kgs. Our new carbon door out of the box weighed 6.5 kgs

Pass me sideways that's a saving.

Modena billet drop gears and front diff
Cusco 1.5 LSD center diff
Billet selector forks

And what broke oh yes the gearbox

Going to cost as much as just tuning the car to 500-600bhp!!

And are you going to be using the car everyday?? as I would think twice about removing any structure to the doors, front end etc as you might need them one day!!!

Without the repair costs!! My front end and engine is already significantly stripped.

"A GSR loom is nearer 30kg after an extensive haircut, it came in at under 10kg"

WTF!

Beauty of the WRX is parts can be had for as little as 99p. My gearbox goes, so what? Bottom end goes get another, Newy WRX is a great tuning car on a budget. It's just 200kg too heavy.

I sold a WRX intercooler for 99p Bonnet vent for 99p and WRX sideskirts for 99p! I have a WRX ARB, decat middle pipe amongst other parts that I can't give away.

Thats the most important question??

If your still using the car everyday and its your only mode of transport, then you should be looking at making it more reliable and more safer, if your going to take the car of the road and use it just for tracks, then by all means strip the hell out of it and do what ever tuning it needs!!!

Weekend car. Occasional drag strip visit.

What got me thinking though is since torque has been upped 50lbs I've developed 8 oil/air leaks, the gear has popped out twice and I noticed an horrible flat spot in 3rd gear, it just made me wonder if drastically reducing weight further would help protect all components.

Better off spending the time and money on a top notch brake, suspension and tyre combo.

Think he wants to do it the hard way!!!

Personally I would sell the car, and buy one that some other poor sod has spent loads of money on!!!

I like to know where the car is, nothing worse than inheriting something with hard to diagnose gremlins. (that said the Torque Pro app issue is killing me)

I don't drink, smoke or gamble, I'm a boring fart, so the pennies do accumulate.

What about the Asda shop with two kids in the back and 2 inch of November slush?

Wife has been in an Atom, she said it was underwhelming.

Underwhelming are you for real?

This whole seems more and more like a poor attempt to make ten pages.
