Thicker arb made my car heavier, but I always leave that bit out.

Get the bike as well, and stop "wasting" money on the car
Lad I went to the strip with Sunday is a big bike fan and he was telling me every little intricate detail of each bike running.

It was like listening to my wife talking about her crocheting.

Seriously it's a different machine, it's like someone telling me to go on a plane to Lanzarote to feel speed.

These are the times of the bikes Ultimate RWYB comp Sunday, it was too damn damp for them.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...ps8a3dc316.jpg

Think a few went faster during open RWYB when it dried out at the end of the day

As for wasting money, nearly all my mods so far have been modification through maintenance!

It did.

She moans that she can't drive it saying she fitted half the mods, I just point out the fixed bucket seats.

She moans then that she fitted the seats lol.

I paid £800 for professional fitting and she had to re-fit them, but that's another story.

Funnily enough Xline the lad I grew up with and blame for my obsession with getting faster has just done the conversion -

Top lad too. Always willing to talk about cars with you.

Bucket seats, battery, spare wheel/jack, front bumper bar will knock 70kg straight off the bat. Aircon and ancillaries removal and temporary STI spoiler removal combined with the weight saving of decats etc will rush you towards the magical 100kg mark.
Buy a classic and save another 100kg.

That's exactly what I did, although my Type R was predominantly for track and sprints, I got sick of throwing money at it and not actually using it. I now have the Blob Wagon PPP and it gets used regularly, doing another sprint in it on sunday as well, sure it's no Type R but it's still just as much fun trying to keep it on the road or track pointing in the right direction.

Type R still sat in the garage in England.

Ive owned WRX's and STi's I find if your modding a WRX the parts you remove are worth nothing, with a STi the parts sell quicker and are worth more money.

For example You want to upgrade to a set of AP 6 pot brakes and you remove the WRX 4 pots brakes and STi Brembo 4 pot brakes, the STi brembo might be rubbish but some people still pay £400-450 for these brakes
Where as the WRX brakes you would be lucky to get £100-150. Same goes for other parts, you get a better return on your STi parts then WRX parts, which then helps to pay for other parts!!!

Simple answer is yes. Loosing that amount of weight will leave less stress on all components. Why can't anyone on this site give a straight answer. Also if you want to stick to a 5 speed it would be worth putting stronger gears in the box, ie ppg straight cut. You will have a gear box capable of big power (not as much as the 6 speed though) and still retain the lightness of the 5 speed.
Yes if your starting out with a wrx it is a longer route and more expensive but it is possible. We do have a few uk 2000 with decent power and people say they're not worth ****

Your main aim here is an 11 second car yes?

So you pull upto another can after stripping your car to bits thinking this is mine

And he rags your **** all the way

You speak to them after it and low and behold running 700 horses

What are you going to do then? 2.1 gt30, 6 speed?

Your into nomans land your gonna what more and more

And your next thread after this will be who does the best 2.1 stroker, ej20 cdb wanted or 6 speed wanted

I can guarantee

Steve

Personally I think I'm tyres and 30kg off my end goal. Since torque was upped 50lbs 2 week ago I'm springing oil and air leaks all over the shop. I can't imagine for a second owning a 400hp+ Impreza is any fun. The worry must outweigh the enjoyment?

Just asked her on Facebook about it:

Kelsey, I think yours was a Atom 500

Kk the driver was **** then cos there was no thrill there

0-60: 2.3secs
that would smash smiths R1
does 1/4 mile in 11.2

That's slow for 1/4 don't u think for that

yes. must have short gearing

Got to have summat to be that slow when it's 800+ bhp per ton

I dunno?

It says 863bhp per tonne why can't it do better than 11s 1/4 mile

It should be pushing low 10's
might be the downforce

So it takes 5.4s to get to 100mph yet it takes it almost another 6 seconds to gain 32mph that just sounds wrong lol

it must weigh 2 ton at 100mph

Think they have got it wrong on that page

10.5 - http://www.autorooster.com/ariel-atom-500/
It has less torque than ours! and hits peak power at 10,000rpm, must really pick up slowly in the higher gears.

Just about to post u same thing

I suspect that's the Atom 2, it runs around 300bhp.

Looks to be running high downforce on the rear. A competent driver would be able to crack a 0-100mph time in around 7 seconds in one of them.

Pretty underwhelming times tbh if it was a V2 which looking at google images it probably was.

Seeing the car in action then viewing stats for all the ATOM versions. To me it looked very very fast.

Everyman driving day at Elvington.
