JDM in two weeks?

Bored with waiting now
I am Fed up With waiting for this car now, when I handed over the cash, I jokingly asked Max If I would get this car before Christmas to which I was told definately. Since then I have been informed that three weeks had been wasted due to him not knowing it was now to be registered online. I tried to keep in contact with him weekly and ended up feeling like I was pestering him, only
to be told that he would be the one to Contact me. I then got a call telling me that I had "forgotten to leave the MOT certificate with him" when in actual
Fact after I had test-driven the car he was the one that told me the car needed a wheel bearing in order to get an MOT certificate in the first place. I contacted him again yesterday and he vaguely said that he contacted the HMRC and "a document was missing", he was unable to tell me which one as there were two applications for different vehicles and he wasn't sure if it was my one or not but would know today or tomorrow - not sure why. Apparently this is the longest it has ever taken and I am unlucky - yawn. I was then told that "hey ho, good things come to those that wait" - which I feel was patronising, I wish I had just gone and bought a car that was ready to drive, and I feel that somewhere down the line I am being lied to. If I don't get the car by Christmas I am going to get my money back. Maybe after everything he has decided, that having done the cam belt/service etc, he could get more money for it by refunding me and selling it on. I hate to be sceptical but also hate the fact that I have paid over £7,000 and don't feel able to even ask about the car, nor will I receive it at a date that he was certain about!!!

I know and I just spoke to DVLA who with their limited ability to disclose information to a third-party, confirmed there has only been one application made from hurst cars, therefore meaning there is no other car and he is just giving me false hope

He has now offered me a car to get about in which is very kind however it's not that easy to get there and pick it up, I guess I just have to continue waiting patiently!!!

Max is a very decent guy, I have bought 2 jdm's off of him now both cracking cars, I can assure you that if your having to wait it's him that's getting messed about not him messing you about

You bought a import it takes time this sort of stuff happens, ships can be delayed by 2/3 weeks depending on sea conditions. I used to import cars and have been in a similar situation which is not in our control. Even though I had years of experience I would dred handing over documents to the DVLA as they would be always something new that would hold up the registration.
I don't know the chap and never dealt with him, but I can imagine he's trying as there would be no reason for him to lie given his reputation.
I had members on here hand me over 20k+ and ended up in a similar situation to yourself including Nic and his 2011 hawkeye spec c.

I would just try to be patient being its coming across on a ship, it will be worth the wait fella just relax and enjoy your Christmas. I almost bought a car from Max myself except I was a little late as he'd sold all his stock when I finally sold my old WRX, he seemed a good honest guy and clearly has high quality stock from the feedback, just run a search on here. he's about 15-20mins from me tops.

I feel i get dragged on here from time to time to explain myself. Reasons to why this vehicle has taken a while to register. Firstly all vehicles must now be logged on the NOVA database by an individual as opposed to the shipping agent. Secondly, new NOVA registration login details had to be sent to my accountant who in turn logs these vehicles on the database (in turn waited for login details to arrive from HMRC). There are no more "customs clearance forms" sent to show all customs being paid (this was previously the case and a vehicle could be registered instantly once this form arrived).
There were 2 applications sent. One for your vehicle and a spec c. Not quite sure where the DVLA have got this 1 application from! I can send you pictures of both applications if need be although i feel i should not have to but the fact that you have pointed to being lied to, i can do so just to prove a point. I feel offended as honesty is something i take seriously, trying my level best to operate a policy of honesty in all areas of the business.
I really do feel for you as it is as frustrating for you as it is me. Furthermore i can do with the extra parking. From our conversation the other day i did state this has taken longer than usual due to a change in processes and waiting for paperwork. I advised you to ring DVLA to verify any of what i had told you so you are not in doubt about anything (or not being lied to). Had i something to hide, i would not have been advising you to ring the DVLA. I also said i did not have a problem returning your money if you could not wait any longer, although it would have been a shame to not complete the deal, but the offer was there for you to take your money back in full if you could not wait any longer. Registration is not an easy process especially with the process having changed recently. Anything else Lloyd, please drop me a call.

Think I would be on the phone to the dvla offering to tear them a new one, dragging their heels and giving out misinformation and the potential for damaging your business reputation. Might make them pull their finger out.

I really respect you for coming online and saying that Max, and I totally sympathise with both sides, especially after hearing your obviously genuine reply. As somebody who has never done this before, and who has parted with a lot of money I feel I am I to the unknown, and It is sometimes frustrating when you are waiting for calls and they don't come, having said this and after reading your message it is clear to me that I am in safe hands and I can therefore continue to wait with peace of mind.
Many thanks
Lloyd :-)

Having dealt with them in the past, possibly not.
However, having had a conversation with someone I know a few weeks back that happened to be in a similar situation that I was in, then maybe they will.
Said person had surrendered her license under medical grounds.
The point came when the time had elapsed and doctors had given her the all clear to get her license back. Several months later, and after several phone calls she finally lost it with them.
Made the point that if she had committed a driving offence and got a ban, her license would have been handed back to her without all the nonsense, and that they were damaging her business as she was not able to drive.
She was told then that they would rush it through.
Whether it happened to be because of that phone call, or if it was coincidence, her license arrived through the post a couple of days later.

And Max I apologise if it seems as though I was doing anything other than seeking advice from guys who can she'd light on the situation. I respect the fact that you take honesty seriously and perhaps my worry and doubt got the better of me in this unknown situation. I can safely say that this wasn't my intention and I just want the car, clearly it is the DVLA who are holding things up
