One turbo and one non turbo here..
The non turbo is nothing special, just a standard faithful daily.

No that i know of. Unless theres one in newage form. Having a bigger engine will help.
I bet the 2.5 engine is 16v and running more like 170bhp mark. So that would make a big difference. 2.0 8v engine is not eeay to tune without great cost. Plus i've never seen any tuning parts for the non turbo 2.0 models, apart from decat or sports cat and filter.
Have you?

Certainly easier and cheaper in the short run to go FI but I'd love a company like SC, Enginetuner or RCM take up the challenge of making the UK's quickest NA Imp.

The 16v SOHC Impreza RS features a 2.5-liter, horizontally opposed four cylinder. It cranks out 165 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, but more importantly, it has an impressive 166 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.
Stock performance: 0 to 60 in 7.8 seconds, to 100 in 24.4, and 16.1 seconds at 85 mph through the quarter. - fair.
A few good breathing mods and that's a fun car. Just a shame MPG isn't drastically improved from the NA aspect.
Am I right in thinking the RS version was a 2.5 classic for a time?

Yes i believe it was in America, but were not in America. 165bhp for a 2.5 litre is insanely poor, Renault clio 182 has a 2.0 16v non turbo engine and running alot more bhp, 182bhp.
Japan produce a 2.0 16v Impreza that knocks out 155bhp, think i'd prefer that over the 2.5.
Plus American fuel has a low Octane level, believe its as low as 91. Might aswell use water
