Lees has a twisted kit with a LARGE turbo for track use only.
The thing is, ALL of those turbos will do the job, as long as you know what the job is! I've come to realise that sometimes it's the people you buy it from that can make the difference in the long run. Like where are they if there's a problem?
We helped to create the Turbo Technics T36 on the basis that there was a place there for a properly drop in turbo that we could work with at a decent price. At £1080 inc vat, it's a bargain.
We have a few versions of it which are under test, and at least I can get the designers on the phone in five minutes if something special is required.
We've also frequently gone for the S206 billet on the same basis, as it will do the 500 bhp plus it's supposed to.
Other than that, we've used a lot of the Blouch units, and see no requirement for anything else, unless you're going twisted.

To my un-trained eyes the T36 seem to have the gt35 in it's pocket by 200 ish rpm and climbs nicely, not sure how much difference that makes on the road or to how it drives, could you explain please Martyn as I'm new to this graph reading business.
Whether or not it translates to it being worth ish £400 more over a secondhand gt35, but then again the t36 will be shiny and new, decisions, decisions, I can see why your having trouble deciding OP.

Update for you all.
Tried desperately to speak to the clinic but just couldn't get through but did get a couple of emails.
Had a good chat with Martyn at enginetuner.
For those who don't know the company or Martyn, Alan and the team they have been second to none throughout the build. Prior to choosing them I spoke to visited a lot of the recommended companies on here.
Enginetuner got my vote and business hands down. A company designed in my opinion
to be a one stop shop. Engine building, machinists, mapping, rolling road etc and all in the same place.
Back to the thread.
I told martyn my requirements that it's an every day car with the possibility of beginner track day use.
He went through all my options and I've decided on the t36. An awesome turbo and suits my needs perfectly. Much as I'd like to play is the p155ing contest and say I have 550bhp it really isn't suited to road use.
With the t36 I'll also have the future upgrade of the roller bearing option for a few hundred.
A quick look on turbo technics website shows that enginetuner are their preferred supplier, plenty of turbos in stock and great customer service.
I do have a build thread and I will keep you all posted. Thanks for your help once again.

I hate threads like these, giving me turbo envy lol. I'll be following this with interest as I'm fairly sure I'll go 2.1 next year but wasn't sure on accompanying turbo for road use. Best of luck with it.

Cheers mate. If it makes you feel any better it's been a long time coming. Bought my first subaru back in 2000, a uk2000.
Bought my current third turbo in 2008 and been saving and reading and asking questions ever since.

The T36 spools almost as quickly as the VF35 on the dyno and even closer on the road which considering it'll do 80bhp more isn't bad by any means.
Completed a road test in an STi 8 with a forged 2.1 equipped with one this morning and have the following data from it.
6th gear cruise @ 2500rpm full throttle applied, 1 bar by 2850rpm, 1.2 bar by 2940rpm, full boost of 1.55 bar by 3040rpm.

@ Martyn.
Opps my bad.
I actually meant the GT30 on bannys graph above the one you posted, but very interesting to know that it spools like a VF35, so with the roller bearing option it must be nigh on VF34 spool levels?

It's available with a larger exhaust housing too for those with 2.35 or 2.5 litre engines

It was very similar to an MD321T, as that is what JGM said during mapping. Well considering avcs mainly helps with spool and torque then I dont see why not, if you really want that last little bit just run 10% meth pretty easy to do that on weekend/track car.

Cool, I'm guessing that was a gt3076 or 71?
