Looking for sub 50k mile blob STIs it looks like you are around £3k short on your budget currently.
This looks nice: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item2a4578836e
Too expensive but lot of car for the money.
Then we start to get to the £12k region.

i know what the current market is like at the moment which is why im not set on one model, should a blob come up then great if not and I can find another then I don't mind, ive been to look at a1996 RA and ive looked at an 05 Blob both within budget and with the right miles, but some cosmetic work needed. that put me off. that's just how I am, its pointless saying don't worry about the mileage or a few marks here and there because for you that may be ok, for me its not what I want to spend my money on. £8500 isn't peanuts its a lot to be spending on cars from 17 years old to 8 or 9 years old. I want what I want just like others will have preferences to what they want when looking for a car. one WILL come up sooner or later as ive proven before with my previous cars, so ill keep looking, advertising, and bide my time

Just a thought but have you considered looking at a higher mileage car that's been maintained and loved by an enthusiast like ourselves ?
You would probably find one that's pretty much mint and at a reasonable price.
Put the remainder of your budget to a rebuild to the spec you want.
I would be pi$$ed off if I bought a low mileage car for top money and it went pop.
I'm talking from experience as regards a rebuild but my blob STI only cost me 5.5k.
Good luck with your search.
