I was always a dedicated fan of Cadbury's milk chocolate bar in purple wrapper as a kid, and still remain one. My intake went to null as a young adult, but then it picked up in my mid twenties to 'occasional' status. It remains to that.

I'm pleased that it's still available in its purest and original form. I do miss that 'glass and a half' symbol on the wrapper.

Also, to me, the sanded down edges on new bars are unacceptable. It tastes like a proper Cadbury's milk chocolate bar with the clear cut and firm edges to each and every bit.

Yeah. Remember the dark blue-black tattoos. You peeled of the backing, licked the non-print side, and held them down against your arm or back of the hand for a bit. Then peeled it off.

I care to remember, they came in packets of white bubblegum - it was flat with flutes and had a really sweet, but slightly citric distinct flavour. Loved it.

Anyone remember those white paper bags full of various sweets and plastic toys, etc. Can't recall the name.

And the Smith's white bag plain crisps, with the little blue sachet of salt.

Plus plain (red) and salt and vinegar (blue) Twists. The originals and still the best. I used to put in vinegar and shake them up. Lovely.

Ah, Lucky Bags, that's the one!

Agree with all your post.

Don't remember 'Jublies' though ... In my book, they're something entirely different altogether. But they still provide their fair share of fun, though.

The sanded down edges have taken grams off the weight thus saving them money by reducing the chocolate bar sizes but giving it the same appearance.

Re. Jublies...

I remember Calypso. Same thing really. But it was like a Dr Pepper flavour, IIRC. Unless there were other flavours(?)

I worked out why they've done it, Paul. Thing is that although the appearance matches the old style, the taste doesn't; despite exactly the same recipe. That's down to that shrewd sanding. IMO the chocolate should be left alone in its old style, and it should be the consumer to make the solid edges melt to rounded in his or her watering mouth.

Little things can make such a difference.

Fortunately, the old style unsanded bars are not totally extinct yet.
