I'm sure when the Double Decker was invented the base was biscuit crisped rice and raisins and the raisins were dropped soon afterwards

Anyone else have the same recollection ?

Mind you, I like the taste of peanuts in combination with chocolate. Occasional Snickers is a treat. Mainly when you've done a lot of physical work, and you just want to enjoy every bit of your chocolate bar with amazingly satisfying peanut mash up wrapped in a chocolate blanket. I had two small size Snickers bars this November, and that was, I think, after ten years or even longer. Dairy Milk chocolate remains my prime victim and vice versa.

That Fab should still be going, I think. It really looks drastic. For me, Magnum Almond is ace, but half way through eating it I'm full up. Can't remember any childhood ice cream makes apart from some kulfis (they are divine to my taste buds) whose makers I do not recall. But currently, Häagen-Dazs salted caramel has beaten every other ice cream for me. It puts Ben and Jerry to shame, it's that funking delicious! I bought 4 tubs of it on offer in Tesco recently. It was £2.75 instead of £4 each. I must go easy on them.

I'm sure you're in minority with that.

Grown up wimmins are accused of eating more chocolate than all grown up and beer drinking men, but the fact is that a lot of men greedily gobble up not just the chocolate but any thing going that's full of sugar. At my workplace, most of the charity sweets are bought by men. They don't even taste that good (sweets, I mean), but the men come out of their offices and stick a pound in, for a bag of rotten tasting junk sweets. Charity sweets people have to keep filling the tray, the demand is so high- thanks to sweets addicted men.

Paynes Poppets...

Nuts.
Raisins.
Toffee.

Obviously in their original late 70s form, as a small, brown cardboard box, with the little hatch dispenser.

That's cool! I have got a packet of three in my cupboard since about a month. I'll have one when I fancy. That's if any of them are left, because TH Junior is back from her travels. She's raiding my kitchen cupboards on regular basis. When I want something of that sort, I find just the wrappers re-shaped as full snacks and put back in the cupboard; just to dodge me. Very cruel indeed.

Enjoy yours.

Nut brittle?... The crushed peanuts in a hard toffee?

Sweetshops used to sell it in the form of little brick-shaped sweets, in a clear polythene wrapper.

Friggin' loved 'em.

Weren't they originally called 'Chipsticks', back in the day? Or is that the name for those bigger, flakey maize stick things?

But yeah, both are still about, in one brand name or another.

I've had KING cheese and onion. Red packet. Nice.

Also, Eire's 'national' brand, Tayto (equivalent to UK Walkers), in cheese and onion. Lovely.

Where can you get this Tudor brand from?

A fantastic, if not obvious companion for a Snickers is an Orange Capri Sun, standard breakfast for me as a a paperboy, works well together.
