I've only ever been to one football match, Micky has been to more and personal experience has been that I/he has witnessed no trouble at those matches. Based purely on experience, I could argue there is no real problem as I've not seen it first hand. I'm not going to, as that would be stupid. Of course there are troublemakers, and the above points re. police presence/banning of alcohol, displays there is a risk and those are measures to try and minimise it. I'd rather caution was exercised just in case, even though in reality, the police are not called into action all that often so far as I'm aware.
All I'm getting at, is when you consider the sheer number of fans attending matches, added to all of those unable to, the amount of trouble is relatively low. That is not excusing it as I said earlier, it just is the reality. Just as is the fact that sadly, arseholes exist that will find any opportunity to fight/cause trouble etc. and I do genuinely believe they'd still do so, even if football was wiped out.
It is the mindset of some people that is wrong, and the sport just provides a common ground in which these like minded people get together and go on to cause trouble. Do you honestly believe that if football didn't exist, that would cease, or that they'd just find a different common ground?

At the end of the day when people like Wayne Rooney are revered those doing the revering can only be described as.... well I had better not say it!

Like all the others you are not answering as to why the whole situation is different in AFL in Aus. Until someone can explain to me why crowd trouble does not happen there despite the passion for the game, alcohol being available and the fans being mixed then I will not even consider changing my stance that football itself is a big part of the problem.

I don't know for sure AFL is 100% trouble free, 100% of the time, whether at the matches themselves, or out and about on match days. Perhaps as far as in the grounds, punishment for acting up is tougher than here? No idea. It's not something I know about, so I see little point in spending too much time guessing.

I could match your GFY comment with an equally delightful reply but that gets the thread nowhere and just highlights your lack of IQ that you claim is so high when you can't argue your point and just resort to such comments

LOL, I already made the same point several pages back in this thread, but he ignored me too, because in his words I'm "a person of little worth"
Same goes for the point that blaming the death of one spectator at the hands of a hooligan is like lumping together all Muslims for the 7/7 attacks (or all immigrants if just one of them knifes somebody in a pub, etc, etc).
The guy's either just a troll, or he really is that far up his own @r$e

as I said so far up your own ar$e it's laughable. Lisa has already highlighted what a hypocrite you are without actually saying the word but her points are very clear and valid.

Another cop out by you and more abusive insults further showing your ineptitude, not surprising though as you've been shown up by numerous people to be talking sh!te and a hypocrite to boot

Jeez, and blokes say women are bitchy.
Is it really that difficult to have a discussion without name calling?
And before anyone gets either defensive, or revels in that comment, it's not aimed all at any one individual.
As a mod, perhaps I should have removed posts along the way, but I've been posting on this as a member with an opinion of my own and rightly or wrongly, decided to let it play out untouched. But guys, it's a poor show when you can't just disagree and discuss without getting personal.

If you want to lock it go right ahead, I'm not exactly Mr. Happy right now so maybe the people on here I have very little time for as I consider their opinion utterly worthless are getting on my t1ts more than usual and it's showing in this thread!

Being honest, I don't really want to lock it. I don't particularly like locking threads just because they go in a certain direction.
What would be preferable, is that people continue to have a discussion if they wish, but stick to arguing their points/counter argue, without personal digs.

Granted, you may not have said that exactly, but in fairness, when you make a comment like the one below and also call for a sport to be banned, I can see why people may take your posts a certain way,
