at you being a spelling pedant when typos don't mean someone can't spell. I don't waste my time proof reading my posts to you, you aren't worth it
And another cracker from you, tribal violence will just disappear will it if football got banned? Just like that all resentment between those who get involved with it just goes out the window? Such as the political rivalry like that shown between Serbia and Albania during their match would vanish because there was no more football? You really don't believe they would find another medium to have a pop at each other?
Just shows how little understanding you actually have on where much of the deep seated hated and violence comes from, football didn't create it, football just became an outlet for an already existing hatred between certain groups of people. You even talked about the football hooligan films made, have you actually watched them? It's about gang rivalry and tension and a football match being a place to meet up and fight it out. That's nothing to do with ordinary fans but it's OK you go on talking sh!te about something you have no idea about and just want to get a rise out of any ordinary football fan by insulting them. We can carry on laughing at you

Serious offer, I will take you to see the arsenal play at the emirates, (home of football) with me and my two sons, Prosper and Orlando
I am not saying everyone who goes to football is perfect
But it is not a total wasteground that you portray
Joy, pain and elevated human emotion - all on display granted
But see the joy on my 8 year olds face as the teams walk on the pitch - and you would need a heart of stone not to join in
Genuine offer btw
I will supply the tickets you the transport :-)

No, I tried three times to read that and find it interesting, but in reality it's just the ill constructed desperate drivel of someone trying to justify the unjustifiable!.
I do, however, love the use of the word we in this and your other 'posts', it belies the tribal nature the sport and how you feel about it. You maybe laughing at me, but we????
No doubt you will now drone on with some BS about how you are PMing all your footy chums on here and how they are all laughing at me... boo f**king hoo
You're a psychologist's wet dream.

I have been to many other major sporting events and never experienced those feelings.
Maybe I am just not 'man' enough for the testosterone filled world of football, but your money for the ticket would be wasted and far better spent on your kids frankly
I do appreciate the offer though

Thank you very much hodgy, but no need. I have been to football matches in the past at West Ham, Manchester City and Liverpool. While the game itself is quite a spectacle to be fair, I found the aggressive tension at two of the three games distinctly unpleasant. I don't really do the alpha male thing and find the pack mentality (as on display during the Chelsea train incident) quite saddening.
I have been to many other major sporting events and never experienced those feelings.

I am not an alpha male, in that aggressive context - but I do know what you mean - I find it distasteful too
I think humans are innately tribal - it is good to "belong" after all and maybe the pleasure I get is through the pleasure my children get
If you change you mind, the offer is there (but we go in the AMG)

No worries, in that case I will continue to document the transgressions of the 'minority' (sic) of scum that are football fans at every opportunity. One thing is for sure, we won't have to wait long for the morons to commit some other act of stupidity
I would bid you goodnight, but I don't, quite the opposite

that's fine, there are plenty of scum that are football 'fans' but they are the tiny minority and not the majority that you claim. So you continue pointing them out and i'll continue saying they are not representative of the fans of the sport as a whole
And as for you not bidding me goodnight like I give a flying ****

Try as I might I have been unable to find books called 'Understanding F1 Hooliganism', 'Understanding Cricket Hooliganism', 'Understanding Rugby Hooliganism' or 'Understanding Golf Hooliganism'.... one can only wonder why? Nothing to do with the game or its followers though

No it's because it's the biggest sport globally, you can't seem to grasp that point Because a tiny minority of thugs and racists use football matches to play out their running battles you still maintain that represents the majority of football fans. You are clearly wrong and your argument is utter bollocks, unless you can show me where the majority of 3.5 billion fans are demonstrating your point. You can't, you can only show events where a small number of idiots are involved.
Or I could just use your cop out reply and just post to everything you say but I don't need to because I can argue my point

The point, regardless of whether or not it is the most popular 'sport' in the world, is that the tribalism and the resulting aggression and violence only routinely occur in football.
You maintain that because the sport is popular it's a conduit for the violence. I know that is a cop out and utter crap!
If it were true you would see it to a lesser extent in other sports especially in parts of the world where football is less popular.
Take Aus for example, sure there are very occasional disturbances involving a handful of people at the odd AFL game, but it's not routine. The fans sit mingled with each other all with alcohol freely available at bars behind each stand and only a handful of police around to 'keep the peace'. You will say it is because it is less popular than 'soccer', but at he MCG there are 86000 fans in attendance so how come they can sit mingled and drinking yet football fans have to be segregated and banned from drinking alcohol in the grounds? Serious question btw!!!
The problem is there is something very wrong at the heart of the game and it's a failure to accept there is a major major problem by those that run the game and its fans in general that fuels it to be honest. People like you pretend it's all some minority and nothing to do with football and that is the problem.
The game is always making excuses for the behaviour of its players and fans.
Watching the news report on the Chelsea train tonight the fans are clearly chanting 'we're racist and we like it' yet some bell end from the club reckons the chanting has nothing to do with the black guy being shoved off the train. Excuse me? Was I born yesterday? FFS!!!
Then look at that useless buffoon Hodgson the other night making excuses for that thick sack of crap Rooney taking a deliberate dive! So kids think all this is OK.... and so on!
The game is broken, the fans who watch it are kidding themselves about the violence and the powers that be are ignoring anything untoward while awarding the WC to places like Qatar!
There are books about the violence, films about it, countless news articles, blogs and magazine articles about it..... not so any other sport!!!
But oh no... there's nothing wrong with the game!!!
You couldn't make it up

Other than posting barbed little snipes on a multitude of threads what do YOU actually contribute to this forum?
If you think the thread needs looking at use the RTM button. Otherwise how about you post with a genuine contribution or STFU?

Really? I can't think of many sports that do. A quick google search would suggest it's unique to European Football.

West Ham is not a great venue for Spurs fans. We know what to expect. It does go beyond banter though and beating them in the last minute on their own turf isn't great for feeling safe on what feels like an epic walk back to the tube! I'm sure it's no different for them but I only see it from our point of view if you get my drift.
I've actually found the midweek Europa League matches to be best (can't justify Prem League ticket prices and Cup Games are a lotto to get tickets for). No trouble, and it's rare you meet another "domestic" team.
Whilst the Premier League clubs get splashed across tabloids, the worst incidents tend to occur lower down the leagues. Swindon/Bristol/Cardiff/Leeds. Seen too many ugly incidents with their "followers". 99% people are bouyed by beer and the pack mentality. Personally I'd ban booze from grounds but there's too much money in it.
I love the sport, but hate all the crap that comes with it. That incident in France is just ridiculous. Totally unneccessary and cheapens the whole Champions League. It's supposedly for the Elite/Best of the board in Europe. Once again the English teams are "representing" well.
Anyway my lot kick off (literally) in 5 mins. I need to go and bite some nails and swear at a Panasonic whilst jumping around like a gibbon for a bit. Well.....when in Rome and all that

The NHL is one that makes me laugh, you look at the level of violence on the rink and yet they can sit opposing fans side by side with no real issues (that's not to say there are none at all but they tend to be outside the stadium).

Anti-Semitic chanting before West Ham match probed
Nice
There was a football hooliganism specialist on Radio 5 Live tonight, he worked for the police in the 80s and 90s and he said it is still rife in the the game and football is at least partly responsible as it does comparatively little to discourage the tribalism etc.
Told you so!
