"Idyllic" kind of spoils your point there.
Some smoke, some are slightly porky but none are a drain on the NHS AFAIK.

I pity them then as there is a high probability that some will suffer conditions brought about by their vices and become a "drain" on the NHS and if you made your standpoint clear on this to these friends, maybe it's best you don't know lest you leave them to die from their self inflicted condition

One at a time please

Yet.

Would you think it was fair if any of them were denied treatment, possibly even for something unrelated to either just because they made those lifestyle choices? What if they'd never placed any burden on the NHS all their adult life, then one day needed help, would you deny that just because they were a smoker, even if there was no absolute proof smoking was the cause of needing treatment?

If someone who has paid NI all of their lives were denied treatment due to either being a smoker or being a fatty I wonder how this would stand in a court, surely they would have a case?

You would think so. I suppose we'd have to hope a judge was more reasonably minded than some people on here.

fao the perfect ones on here, the reason nicotine is so hard to give up is because the hit doesn't last as long as heroin, heroin is a once maybe twice a day habit, nicotine can be 20 or more small short lasting hit's per day, that's how my doctor explained it to me,

Does it not say the routine ie, prescribed treatment...not emergency

If the doc can't operate cos operation won't go well cos the patient is too fat, then what can you do

That's always been the case. I've not read the report but I assume that if there's a chance of recurring problems after treatment/surgery due to smoking/eating too much they will refuse beforehand unless steps are made to show you are trying or have quit.

I also think that the poorest who pay very little if any into the system should get refused treatment.
And immigrants that have not lived here very long.
And ugly people.
And probably more but can't think
