Is 60 miles around town good for £20 worth of v power

no fmic on my car and as you and fawor say it was bought pre modded at 430 or 60 or something ive forgotten.
rr printout for 2013 you were at the run in 2012
so the sti is faster than the wrx as confirmed by my 12.8 at 260 bhp
the car was stock in 2012 when you were at the run, 350 bhp is achieved on the proper impreza with just a map

Like I said tom, 12.8 with 430 isn't bad for an STI. you've seen all the STI drag runs I've posted.
600bhp WR1 struggling to 12.0
348/401 STI with decent launch getting 13.9
Your time of 12.8 with 430bhp "with a passenger and a boot full of lead" is a credit to the STI.

surely if i was playing to trumps id claim the 430 bhp and not 260
read above the car was bought pre modded at big bhp according to fawor and matt but the car above has lost some 100 bhp and an fmic somewhere...
unless of course matt and immicnut are full of crap

drag racing bores the hell out of me hence why i only did it twice

12.8 at 260 bhp as you well know.
its been fun come back again sometime matt

Drag racing does not "bore" you tom either, you frequent drag race threads more than any other SN member and obviously like it enough to watch it "often" at Santa Pod with the odd blast in your car.

It was 430bhp.
Initially fat-thomas denied running a 12.8, saying he never got his timeslip (due to having a passenger, what ever that means)
I dug up quotes saying that he did 12.8 in June 2012 and a quote in 2013 with him saying "a Newage needs 400bhp to get into the 12's."
His mate then came on here recently confirming that his car indeed was 430bhp and furthering that he gave his WRX Bugeye to his partner Emma, which is also true.
fat-thomas is one of those guests on Jeremy Kyle who claims his wife's lie detector results are right and his are wrong.

Back on mpg though. My WRX engine'd STI classic uses £20 of V power over 50 miles. I'm not a maniac but certainly don't watch the fuel guage. It worked out I could get to work and back 6 days a week without a refill.
However, my Diesel POS Renault scenic claims it will do 170 miles on £20. So far its on 8 days, no low fuel light yet (which comes on with 50 miles left).
So in summary, if you want to own an Impreza AND have good MPG then you need a second car (and a supply of EGR valves lol).

50 miles off £20 is a miserable return. I can't fathom why lighter Classics always seem to get low MPG claims. Was the engine/drivetrain far less efficient on them?

Not necessarily because if you claimed 430bhp then a 12.8 1/4 would be worse than doing that time with 260bhp
#193
I'd also say Classics are too much fun to drive economically.
I dont tend to take much notice of how much fuel it used, only leading up to having a diesel. I don't tend to check prices of petrol either, if I were that bothered I'd buy a second car....oh wait...

[QUOTE=AndyBaker;11577628]This is an American magazine article I obviously "made up."
http://www.motorweek.org/reviews/com...ncer_evolution
My WRX ran 12.6 with 333/307, I've shed about 100kg which equates to circa 20hp imo.
To eliminate my car as a freak/false time A vid of a 215bhp Bugeye WRX I posted earlier ran a 13.9 as did a 348bhp Blob STI in another vid.
This magazine tested the US 2004 STI that has a 2.5 engine and 300/300, 35bhp up on the UK 2004 STI. They managed a 13.8
Every day I read about and watch 1/4 mile passes from STI's and WRX's the pattern is always the same.
I've seen one STI time to date from 100's that impressed me and it was a member of SN that did a 12.1 (after many attempts) with just 370/360. He did have launch control and rear seats removed. I think in a WRX with that power and launch control the same driver should be hitting mid 11's though.

I don't know why we always have these debates on here anyway?
I mean we all drive or at least like subarus despite model surely. so i can't see why we're not on the same sides.
Does remind me of being a child! 'My dads better than your dad' etc. Lol

Not really. It had a teeny weeny TD04 so was boosting at barely any revs. This was exactly the same return the 2.1 was giving me after JGM mapped it.
I'd also say Classics are too much fun to drive economically.

I thought a turbo slightly spooling to get you up to speed would help with efficiency? Shell in an old V-Power magazine recommended accelerating briskly to the speed limit to aid MPG returns.

The parts of the Newage STI are appealing, as a sum of the whole car they aren't too me, except the Spec C's, RA, RA-R etc.

I felt like Travis Bickle at times.

What MPG is 170 miles to £20?
#202
I had a WRX (classic) for 7 years, great car. I don't really see the point of a Newage STI. If you want a more refined car buy a Merc, If you want a quick Impreza buy a classic. If you want a mix of the 2 then buy a Newage WRX.

I do find it humerous that the STI owners say the WRX cant afford a STI, i had the WRX and trust me it was not a money issue for not getting the STI. I had a wife that said your not having one of those things with a stupid wing & gold wheels
