without a subscription is pretty much useless - you can do timed recordings (I think) but thats about it.
Get a subscription - for a tenner a month its well worth it, especially now the new TIVO software is released.

Just phoned the Letchworth superstore and they are doing this offer until the end of the week
-Am seriously considering this but £99 seems too good to be true. Does the £299 include free subscription or something?
-Is this offer the real deal?
-started to read the tivo site. one quick further ques- this half hour automatic recording, is that just for the channel you are watching or is it for all of them (what normally happpens to me is that i realise something is good on half an hour after its started)?
cheers

MattB - the half hour recording is for the channel you are watching, you can then press record half way through and choose to either record the program from the start or from the point you are at now.
To be honest we rarely watch live tv anymore - after a while the Tivo picks up on what you like watching and records it for you as a suggestion so you end up only watching whats been recorded.
have a look at www.tivocommunity.com loads of info on there.
cheers

I have a question about Picture quality Via the Scarts.
I am very fussy about picture quality and I have a large rear projection television. This is the set up that I currently have:
TV with 1xRGB scart and 2 normal ones
Sky Digibox into TV Scart into RGB on Telly
VCR into Scart 2 on Telly
Tivo into Scart 3 on telly
Sky Digibox VCR Scart into AUX Scart on Tivo
Tivo VCR Scart into Line in Scart on VCR
Anyways........The reason that I have done it this way is that I want the strongest possible RGB signal into the Telly. However, the signal going from the Digibox into the Tivo doesn't look too impressive. Add to that the Tivo going through standard PAL into AV3 on the Telly.
What I would like to know is if I run the RGB Scart into the Aux on the Tivo, then run the Tv scart from the Tivo into the RGB Scart on the telly, Am I going to lose any signal quality from the Digibox and will I gain RGB output from the Tivo too (I think yes to the second question)
Cheers,
Nick
Edited to say that the AV signal through normal PAL is noticably worse from the VCR Scart into the Tivo than through the RGB.

forget the scart/rgb issues then...your main issue will be recording quality of the Tivo - ours is set to lowest quality and we get about 40 hrs storage and a little pixelation / artifacts on screen but we can live with that (25" TV).
You'll probably need to set your Tivo to Best quality which will only give you about 12hrs recording time which, believe me soon fills up!
Post your RGB/Scart question on the www.tivocommunity.com forum - lots of good people on there - bound to get a good techy answer!

Nah, the 12hour recording is just fine for me
There are quite a few AV enthusiasts on here like me, so I will see what answers come in here before signing up with them.
Cheers for the info.
