As with ALL of these stories it's 100% useless.
You have no idea who was the better driver, what revs the gear changes were at, how long the changes were, who had more mechanical sympathy, what condition the other car was in, if it had any problems, if the other guy just gave up a bit at one point, if they really gave it their all or pushed the car as hard as they could etc etc.
Plenty of people have booted it past me in the past. Because I couldn't be bothered to race them or because my car was cold and I was staying off boost.
Unless you are going to give the cars to a fresh driver to compare back to back with proper timing equipment and an equal amount of time in each car you may as well just go by the book figures. Or just be happy that bearing a million unknown factors in mind on that occasion for whatever reason you were faster. But it proves absolutely nothing.

......and to be honest, who really cares?

I've come up against a few modded st's and astra vxr's and they were surprisingly quick and could easily keep up with me. However they were all rolling and not launching from standstill. The vxr in particular was very quick and all he had was a simple remap. I do like the rs but if I could afford a 20k car I don't think I'd get one.

Rs
Your old Sti may of beaten it off the lights , but as a all round car it is better.
One of my mates has one we play about on a air field when we get the opp to do so . Some times I win some times he wins . But if I could get a ford rs I would .
But I still love the subaru . It's a classic . And I love the shape of the car . Better then the bug eye . But I am now looking for a hark eye one at the mo . Just got to get the wife to let me get it . But she is not happy that I am going to spend all the cash I have saved up to get it . But 6/7k is not that much for a car u like.
If things go my way I will have it soon . Then I can turn my old wrx into a track car . I no someone told me it will take a lot to turn it into a track car but I don't want it to be the best track car out there , just put a cage into it up the brakes
And a few other things . Just need it to work as a weekend fun car .
But can not wait to get my hark eye .
One Q I would like somone to Help me with is I have been told to stay away from the 2.5 hark eye as it has a bad bottom end is that true.

I did.
. They are a better all round car . But it's a ford .
Don't it come down to what you like . Some like m3/m5 . Some like subarus . Some like r32 . Some like skylines. Let's face it if we all like the same car it would be boring out there

Yes they are crap from a standing start but once moving they are pretty fast, I'd have another one with no hesitation what so ever, by far the best car I've owned.

I was at York Raceway a few months ago and recorded a 12.6 with 330bhp
Lad from up the road was also there in his RS and he recorded over 15 secs.
The thing is though, I crossed the line at 104mph and he crossed it at 110mph.
That's basically the top and bottom of it.

I have owned and driven quick cars from Classic Scooby's, old ford rs, Cosworths, driven the new St and old St and also driven the RS. Always ended up back in a Scooby because I love them and always have just like the other cars I have driven but the Scooby is my favourite for different reason. Standard they are quick enough but when fettled a little you can have a real weapon like most hot hatch/quick cars. However I have recently had the odd traffic light Grand Prix and a few rolling sessions with a rs my mate has (400 bhp) and one by me that has 350bhp and there seems to be light years between both. The rs with 350bhp can't keep up off the mark or when rolling however the one with 400 is rapid it can't keep up off the mark but if we do a rolling run there is about a half car in it in my favour. It's not always about which is quicker its about how you feel about a car although I like most cars even Evo's I always end up back in a Scooby but as said if I had 25k to spend on a new car it wouldn't be a new rs but that's just choice, but I love these posts because everyone had different opinions and that's whats interesting to read. Whatever car you have or love just enjoy them safely.

I've always liked the MK1 rs too, and they can be picked up quite cheap now. However there is something about the classic Impreza that I love, yes it is old and dated but in a way that's why I like it so much, it looks great and its great fun to drive, and I haven't had to take any finance or borrow money to have one..
Some might see it as a poor mans chav car, but I like to consider myself an enthusiast who is sensible with money
